Hi everyone! I come from Hong Kong. I got Qatar Airways email for the 2nd interview in Doha. They provide air ticket and accommodation for this trip. And I will come to Doha end of this week.

I'm bachelor and have 6-7 years experience in travel industry (not a management post), applied the post of the Commercial Department.
Have anyone can tell me about the interview in Qatar Airways, the salary & package offer??

Help for yours BIG help, thanks!

QR is really a bad employer. I would never ever recommend some one to work for it. They hired me for a position in Commercial Deptt. and once I got there to work they started pulling back the benefits in the name of *Policy Change*. First they took Allianz Health Insurance and told me that under new policy I and my family will be covered under Govt. Health Card which is of course not of that quality health care.

Secondly, when I was negotiating the position they told me that you will be given a "new" and "fully furnished" 2 bed accomodation. But when I got there they showed me a "10 years old newly acquired" accomodation instead of "newly constructed" one. Similarly thier definition of furnishing is quite different from a general understand-ing of a fully furnished accomodation. As there is a housing crisis in Doha so you be lucky to get an acceptable accomodation from QR without a loud shout or fight. Otherwise they will put you in hotel for 5-6 weeks and start showing you the Apts from the worst available.

I dont know why QR hired some one from USA with a Masters Degree in Computer Science along with 8 years of RM experience for 7 world class airlines while it can not take good care her/him. Employees are human capital of an organization. Similar to aircrafts they should also be treated as vauable asset of the comany and treated respectfully in terms of thier needs specially hosuing/accomodation, health care, work environment etc. And I will consider a Zero Star Airline. After 5 months

of adventure I gave up and quit. I suffered heavy loss in terms of time, money, excitement & enthausiasm as well as quality of life. Now I am back to my home and try to do a very fresh start. So please dont get in this trap otherwise cost is very high.

Hi all, I'm here in Doha for eight months now. There isnt many people from HK here but I can see that more are coming over and is starting to form a circle of friends here. Drop me a word if you are in Doha and would like to catch up with HK people and find out why on earth are they coming here at the first place.

Agree with soemartono's hint. Just let them know your expected salary first. They will work out whether they could accept it. When they send you offer letter, they will give you little time (few days only) to consider before you confirm/decline. So act proactively.

It took almost half a centure to make S'pore what it is like today. What time do they need to make Doha another S'pore? Can money make things done fast like what Dubai has done?

Alecia no need to nego. just give your expected salary when the first time you get the call from QR HRD or first Interview.. QR already has standard salary package. If you say too low QR will rise it up if you say too high QR will correct it according to standard.

Welcome to Doha...

Doha is next Singapore.

lower your expectation on salary package.

Negotiate for what you want because QR needs you more then vice versa.

Tun yourself to a boring lifestyle before you come. Anyone coming from cities in SE Asia will found Doha deadly boring.

Hi,

I'm a 25 year old aviation graduate from Singapore and I have 3 years of aviation experience with the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore.

I have just received a call from Qatar Airways for an all expense paid interview in Qatar. I was wondering anyone help me with what kind of salary expectations I should have.

The job position that that are interviewing me for is in the Commercial department.

Any advice you can give is greatly appreciated.

I've accepted the offer earlier on too. Are you guys in Doha already? How long will the whole process take before I can actually get myself in Qatar?

Hi,

I also receive an offer from them recently and it's likely I will accept it. Did you tell them your expected salary during 1st interview? The package they are giving me exceeds my expectation, and as the other message mentions, they also have other benefits which are reasonable.

What level/kind of position did you apply?

Good luck.

Hello,

My husband's just accepted an offer by Qatar Airways....

A pretty decent package w/ff accomodation, education allowance, unlimited travel at 10% of the ticket price (as per availability) etc...

Since there are sooo many factors at work its really difficult to say what kind of package one should expect...

Oh...one more thing, our personal experience: negotiations do work!! :-)

Goodluck!
