Offer from MIDMAC Construction Co

Dear Friends,
Have been recruited by MIDMAC Construction Company as a Nursing Supervisor in an Industrial Camp with the following terms & conditions:

Salary= 7000QR,
Allowances=1000QR,
Bonus=25%of annual salary(is that really true??!!)
Visa status SINGLE;
Company provided single accomodation in Camp
Free food

1)After having read the horror stories of the infamous labour camps in QL forums,I'm having second thoughts of living in a construction camp. So are living conditions in the MIDMAC labour camps as awful & gut renching as they are made out in the various forums?

2 I've read in the forums that companies often go back on the contract they have signed with the employees & pay less, so is MIDMAC a kind of company that might do things like that? I've also heard that salaries are not often paid on time.. so Can I expect this from Midmac as well.

3) Is the salary reasonable at MIDMAC or should I negotiate for a higher salary, specially now that I am aware that conditions in the construction camps are deplorable.

4) Do companies in qatar give bonuses of 25% of the annual basic salary? Is that less or more!! Keeping the global reccession in mind.

5)Is alcohol available in the industrial camps? I like my pint or two of chilled lager, after the days work is done....or is that asking for too much in a labour camp?

thank you in advance
KM

HI KM,

I have got an offer as a camp doctor by the same company MIDMAC construction WLL.

Interestingly enough they've offered a bonus of >25% in my offer letter as well.

And a SINGLE ROOM accomodation in the Camp with free electricity,water,maintenance(whatever that means lol), and laundry.

So have you signed the contract? When are you going to Doha? I've not signed yet but will be doing it shortly as even I've heard MIDMAC is a good company.

So hope to see you in Qatar soooon !

bye

Chris

MIDMAC sticks to the contract.

since you are staying alone and accomodation provided, you can save a good amount,, compariing your counterparts in India.

some labour camps will be bad, but yu will be given staff acommodation with a single room. Pls clarify and ASK FOR SEPARAT SINGLE ROOM facitly.

bonus , liquor ........ are not a big deal,,, without these also, you have a decent salary,, that does not mean, you shuoudlnot get bonus,,,,,,LOL

Midmac is one of the reputed Contrators in State of Qatar. If they have given you a contract, they will honour it. Let me give you my views.

1) Midmac camps are the best in Qatar.

2) Does not arise.

3) Upto you.

4) Yes Midmac pays good bonuses.

5) Alcohol is avialable in Qatar thru QDC where you require a sponcer approval and I dont think it will be allowed in Camp.

All the best and welcome to

Qatar.

I dont think a contract is worth the paper it is written on! I have heard many storys that a company will offer you a "good package" but when you actually sign and begin work, a lot of the things offered will not surface. If you do take the job offer make sure you check the arabic letter states the same as the english one!!!!

is a well-known decent company. I've never heard of problems with them. They are well-established and well-connected. No problems in that regard.
