Labor Law – Salary Reduction

By tekie

I cannot accept the point that my company is changing my salary without any valid reason or even a prior notice.

FOR EXAMPLE:

Contract Agreement (DEC.2009 ‘till DEC.2011) - Basic Monthly: QR 2,000/- and Others

I received a salary for the month of APRIL 2011 with: Basic Monthly: QR 1,500/- and others

I received my salary for the month of MAY 2011 with: Basic Monthly: QR 1,800/- and others.

From 2,000 to 1,500 to 1,800!!! Why they are doing this, they will change it whenever they want without any valid reason. It is not acceptable by the Law of Qatar!

HELP me find an article based on Labor Law, or kindly give me an idea/advise on what action I need to take.

Your response is highly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

According to law, they are not allowed to reduce their basic salary , they can change ur allowances but this should be for all the staff from same level as you are .

Unless you didnt attend the minimum working hour required they can deduct it from salary . Check with the HR to have a clear justification . GDLUCK

ask for a pay slip copy and then complain with the respective local department (Labour Dept.) together with your signed contract. or ask assistance from your embassy.

@princadeyeye, that article is not applicable in my case. as par as i know, i didn't violate any rules of our company and surely i didn't damage any of our machine, etc...

I was wondering, they can easily decide to change my salary, without any notice or making a new contract.

I want to fight back... I want to email again my GM but i need supporting documents/article from labor law.

No.

From Dec. 2009 'till March 2011, my MBS is 2,000. Last April, they reduced to 1,500. (without signing a new contract)

I emailed my General Manager but unfortunately he only replied "i will check".

After waiting for 1 month and hoping they will give the amount signed in my contract, I just received 1,800 for the month of May.

I'm asking them to return 2,000 because it will apply in the computation of gratuity,,, i'm 5 years in the company :( but sad, this is happening to me now.

Depends on the contract you signed. Are you hourly paid?
