Job at Qatar Airways

Hi,

I have an offer from Qatar Airways for a position as a business analyst. The basic salary is QR6000 and the housing allowance QR2500. I have four years of experience and am currently based in the UK. Looking at the other posts, this salary does not sound very good. Can anyone tell me whether one can live decently on this salary in Doha?
Also, is Qatar Airways a good employer?

Many thanks in advance for your opinion.

I have always assumed Qatar airways was a good company to work with since they are always winning numerous airline awards and most people speak so highly of the company. speak to them and see if negotiations are possible but for housing allowance it is not sufficient to get a decent space for yourself.

Hi tomgeorge,

Do you or have you been working there?

Can you share your experience?

Thanks! ;)

Never work for QA. They have the worst bullying management.

By zhbby• 13 Sep 2009 16:29
zhbby

kymo: should not be less than 15k as basic I supposed excluding allowances. It will always differ in what grade / level of salary package they have to offer. Seniority always counts.

zhbby: Do you know what is the average salary for a Business Analyst at QA?

By anonymous• 13 Sep 2009 11:59
anonymous

First try to negotiate...

Salary is not that good according to the standard of living over here.

ruhi04 has already suggested you about the package.

Best of luck.

By zhbby• 13 Sep 2009 11:42
zhbby

If i were you, negotiate. ask for a higher package. what they had offered you is not satisfactory. they must give you a better one if you are hired as Business Analyst.

Are you single? If you have any intention of staying single you will be fine. If you have any plans of getting married soon... think triple times.

By anonymous• 13 Sep 2009 11:22

What are your priorities. If you feels things are not going too well where you are, if you can handle a lot of stress, if you can handle seeing injustices around you, if you feel you can live without your dear ones,....you have to decide where you want to be. You are your own decisionmaker after listening to other opinions. However, whatever your decision may be, never regretr anything. Rather learn from it.

It is a tough life out in QR but if you withstand it, you'll come out much stronger than you were before.

All the best to you!

well, I'm a trainee in QAW actully it's bad offer

if u there in UK I perfer u to stay there even if u take lower salary, living in UK is mcuh better than Qatar in order of ur saler. with this 2500QR u would get a bed room in someone house that's it.

By Kymo• 12 Sep 2009 05:38
Kymo

How come there are so many differences?

I would have thought that QA will have nice working conditions with decent salaries. It's bad for their reputation.

Salary of QR6000 and a housing allowance of QR2500 is a big joke for a BA position!

Hi All,

I also got a job offer from Qatar airways recently - Job grade 7. But the total salary package I'm offered seems not that much attractive taking in to account the cost of living in Doha. The total package I'm offered is 13,800.00

Basic 9000.00

Housing 3500.00 (No option for Company Accommodation)

Transportation 1000.00

Utilities 300.00

I have more than 10 years experience in the airline industry and a collage graduate. I'm currently working for an airliner.Of course, my current salary is much lower than what I'm offered from Qatar Airways.

Should I really need to move?? I need your honest opinion on this offer from those who work their or have better info . . . I need to make a decision soon.

Thanks,

if they provide a decent accommodation and then deduct the 2,500/- its not so bad... becoz the actual rent is much higher than that.... but i know they don't do that any more .. they used a few years ago ... but not any more.. right now, i think only a few top position and air crew are provided with accomodation...

unlimited tickets .. u can avail ... they only give you a chance to take official annual leave i think twice a year... but then you can travel over the weekend and public holidays (eid .. is tiwce a year and if .. other holidays like qatar national day falls with the weekend) .. i know many QA staff who travel on thursday and are back on saturday :)

By ruhi04• 31 Jan 2009 10:48
ruhi04

well they do provide u accomodation but then cut it from ur allowance right.. and i forgot to mention... the unlimited tickets wont do much good since QA dont give u too many leaves to enjoy those benefits...

ruhi04, with that offer the only attractive thing is free unlimited tickets ....

housing is really expensive these days in Qatar... a decent two bedroom flat is not less than 5,000 QAR/pm. and then electricity water bill is additional ...

if QA provides you with accomodation ... it wud b better .. but i guess they don't do that anymore .. not to all staff probably ...

By ruhi04• 31 Jan 2009 10:30
ruhi04

well the only best part of workin in QA wud be FREE tickets anytime anywhere in the world!!! thts it!!!

If ya wanna come to work for Qatar Airways, you certainly have a right to negotiate your salary... QAR 2,500 like said earlier, will just get you a furnished bedroom room in someone's apartment. The rent for a decent 2 bedroom apartment here is at least QAR 6,000.

If you are qualified and they need you, they will definitely hike that salary up of yours.

Good Luck

Thank you all for your advice. Do you think they would take it badly if I ask for a higher salary? I am reluctant not to take the job as the position is interesting and the salary is better than what I earn in the UK. Many thanks again for your help.

I can't imagine Qatar airways putting forward such a poor offer. Are sure it's not in dollars or something?? Qatar Airways is generally known as a generous employer. If that's the offer don't take it.

Don't take it. they are having a laugh offering that kind of money.

2500 HA will only get you one room. Stay in the UK - you won't save anything in Doha with that money, and you will lose your normal life!!!
