Job Offer in Qatar IT Company

Hi,

I have recently been offered a package by a local IT Company in Qatar. The Package is as follow:

Basic Salary: $2,000, Transportation Allowance: $500, Housing Allowance: $1,000
===Total monthly salary USD $3,500===

I am a Pakistani national with 5 yrs of experience in IT. I am married and have 1 kid. I would like to call my family to Qatar in about 6 months, if i go there.

Please advice on the salary package as compare to cost of living for a person with family like me in Qatar. Should i negotiate for more?

Many Thanks in Advance.

hi Sam,

also make sure all details pertaining to the condition of your employment are clearly stated in advance in your contract (i.e. insurance for self &family if any), can u negotiate education allowance?

u can check average salaries for your specific position with someone with your experience and qualifications on http://www.bayt.com/salaries

Good luck!

Thanks everybody for replies and suggestions.

@neo1392 & uduman: Yes, i agree that things will get tight with QAR 12700 (US$ 3500). The employer reconsidered their offer and improved House Allowance from US$ 1000 to 1200 ie. now the gross is QAR 13500. Is that little better? Please share.

@Mandilulur & Creative Chaos: They have committed for the assistance for the family visa once residence permit in Qatar is finalized for me.

@zeeshan1983: Thanks & so sweet of you. We shall surely meet (Inshallah).

Please, share your more advices and feedback.

I am assuming salary that you mentioned in USD is actually in USD. Current USD to QR is 3.65. so your monthly income will be around QR.12K. Which is ok I would say.

- Just explicitly get commitment for sponsor of your family visa.

- Try to secure some migration allowance or something to take care of your moving expanses.

Make sure that your company will give you family status. Your salary will be just barely above the limit that Qatar requires for you to sponsor your wife and child (7000 QR/mo.)
