Job offer for experienced mechanical engineer

Hello all,

I have been on a job hunt for almost 2months. Has not been smooth sailing and with only one employer getting in touch with me. I am a mechanical engineer with 10 years of experience as a piping mechanical qa qc inspector . I am not entirely sure what a decent or acceptable compensation package would be as my only point of comparison is what I was receiving at my most recent assignement. My last post was within Qatar.. lasted for a good 3 years. With the recent cutbacks and the aquisition of the company by another bigger company I became redundant. I was compensated 11000 qar as basic salary. I had other allowances with this. This prospect employer though is offering me 7000 with inclusions of accomodation, transpo, and health benefits. Is this good for my level of experience? Or should I wait it out? Is there something to look forward to in the following months?

So the offer is low for the experience and knowledge I have to offer? I thought so too.. Yes the package would include food transpo and accomodation. Im basically just going to receive the 7000 plus overtime. I am not sure what the trend is. With regards to peak season on hiring/laying people off. During the three years here i was absorbed in work and personal matters, I would get assigned to travel for 2 months at a time. I get back to Qatar stay another 4months then go on leave for a month. Less than a month after getting back to Qatar im doing paper work to fly back over to an assignment in Korea. I did not pay much attention to Qatars economic situation. Boy was I caught off guard. I am married with 2 children. No plans on having them relocate here. My colleagues and I would rotate on that sort of schedule. Our leaves would usually get approved for june july august where its the hottest time of the year. The layoffs were timed during that same period. Was served june, became effective july. Is it possible that after August at the most Septmeber there would be an increase in vacancies? Or is that just wishful thinking? Ive been on every site there is. Been headhunting the headhunters. All Ive gotten is just this one. One.

The salary is much lower.. Are they providing you with accomodation and transport ?

Are you married and will want your family here ? If so, you need to earn minimum to 10k to be able to apply for family visa.
