Hi everybody,

reviewing an offer just got from a main Qatar company: basic 33,000 QR + 2000 QR transport + 1300 QR location = 36,300 QR per month plus apartment and most of Utilities.

Location Mesaieed while we preferred Doha also for the opportunity for my wife (economist and financial advisor) I guess more in Doha rather than in Mesaieed.

Any tips based on your experience? Can I save a reasonable amount based on life cost in Qatar? What about Mesaieed (QP compound)? and option for my wife to find a job?

thanks

M.

In my case it is indefinite

33-35k was a typical offer pre-Covid. The higher values, I think, are only for more senior management roles.

Was your offer on indefinite basis or definite?

Hi Massi73,

I have received a similar offer recently at 31500 base from QP. Do you mind sharing what grade you were offered and was their room to negotiate the base or the allowances?

I would greatly appreciate your response.

@goodlittleboy, whatever... Does it look like to you that any of us is Alexander the great in this forum?! ... And Yes, people can always present their point of views in writing...

samiobeidy: Cool down, cool down a bit. Drink some orange juice. It would be good for your health during the cold weather and will sooth the mind.

The term, "Human nature is never satisfied" is true to the letter. It applies to everyone including you and me. It is a universal truth. And the "satisfaction" is not just restricted to the money and finance. After all the conquests, Alexander the Great was not satisfied!

However, it is not always that people get to present their views clearly in writing. If you would read the comments once again, you will note that even massi73 took the step of clarifying things even though it was not needed at all. My post was in no way an attempt to insult him. You will also note if you read carefully, I was the only one who initially put forward a hand of help by posting a comment while you were still under the blanket rolling on your bed.

As for you, please don't jump the gun. Cool down a bit. A glass of fresh orange juice will do much good to your mind and help bring your blood pressure to normalcy.

@goodlittleboy, "The human nature is never satisfied"? What are you talking about?! Who said he is not satisfied? The dude is just asking.... massi73 is not begging here and his employer is NOT doing him a favour, professionals are expensive commodities, simple supply and demand equation all over the world...

@massi73, first congratulations... It is an excellent package, but again I am not sure of what kind of profession you are doing, I am assuming it is in the Oil domain. I am also assuming that this is a medium/high senior position. So if you have not accepted the offer yet, *negotiate*, and ask for more money if you can, especially for the base salary because you will be compensated for every year at the end of your term based on your base salary & also it will be very difficult to ask for promotion after you accept the offer. Keep in mind that getting 45, 55, 75k per month and more is very normal in Qatar. People like you are much needed in Qatar because your expertise is much needed. Of course nobody will ask you how much you have contributed to the organization, or how much you have reduced in terms of expenses, costs, etc... They will however ask you, "how much are you making" :)....

Messaieed is boring, isolated and there is not much to do at all, I am being frank here. Qatar has a special way of living that you need to be accustomed with, I really enjoy Qatar especially from a Family perspective, great place to raise a family and stability, you may have a different perspective. Then again, Doha is 30 mins away from Mesaieed, and Doha is great, you have something for everyone...

Finally, you will see and face a lot of people like @goodliitleboy, who will try to take you for granted, and think that your are overpaid and they are doing you a favour, always remember if they didn't need you they would not have given you a good package.

Good luck and I hope that you accept the offer (may be even get a raise) and enjoy Qatar... Great country and people overall....

Just asking for some feedback, not complaining of course. For example about life in Mesaieed. Thank you

What more do you want? You will be getting around spending 4 to 5K monthly at the most and the rest will all be in your pocket.

But then...the human nature is never satisfied!

Maybe unclear, yet I have accommodation provided by the company in Mesaieed compound.

From your post it appears your company will not be providing you with accommodation. That then will be your major expense. Depending on the type of accommodation you need, a furnished villa in a compound will cost you around QR 15K. Household plus miscellaneous expenses will be around 2K. The rest could be in your pocket. But it also depends on your own lifestyle.

As for your wife finding a job, she can try while she is here. If she is lucky to find one, the possibilities are that it would be in Doha.
