How is the penalty imposed in labour law with regards on offenses? is it always penalized with monetary?

An employee received a memo from his employer that he will be deducted for QAR 500 due to removing his shirt outside the accommodation. This happened around 2AM in the morning when an employee arrived from shift. The memo was served only after more than a month by his employer. And when the employer has been asked why QAR 500? for that kind of offense? they are going to deduct QAR 500? employee has total salary of QAR 920 only and the deduction is more than 50% out of the salary. When an employer has been asked for this, the same day they terminate the staff.
Yes it's really ridiculous. Actually the employee have memo's on his hand right now and we are really going to ask this from Ministry of Labour. The incident actually happened more than a month. and the memo was only served on 25th August and it say " This will serve as a deduction to ???? staff in ???? the amount of Five Hundred Riyals (500.00QR) for the reason of going outside the accommodation without wearing shirt." Actually the real story was, not going outside... employee just arrived from shift in the accommodation, and maybe due to humidity without a second thought, he removed his shirt maybe he thought that its in the compound and its 2AM so it's okay... Who would expect that one of their Procurement, I think, was in the accommodation that day, same time... and the same he told the employee that he will deduct QAR 200, but upon receiving the memo its QAR 500. This person who saw him didn't leave in the same accommodation... It's unique right? for seven years in Doha, only now I have heard this such!
Ah! such a unique case..
drmana, i am sure even the LABOUR DEPARTMENT authorities wouldn't mind to have a few laugh on this case which is absolutely ridiculous....
I hope the EMPLOYER has enough sense to manage the company and its staff....:))
That's rubbish. How can any company fine an employee for removing his shirt outside his accommodation? And then fire him for it? Is something missing in the story?
If what you wrote is true, go and lodge complain in Ministry of Labour. Hope that helps.
