Expected Salary & cost of living

Dear Qatar Living,

I am a Mech. Engg with nearly 13 years of experience. Presently I am working at an International Airport of India as Manager of Engineering operations and maintenance specially in the field of cargo operation and management.

I would like to relocate myself to Doha in my present field. But I don't have any idea about the minimum salary for a person of my profile to live a respectful life there with my family (my wife and mother). I do have friends there but they are from different field so can't tell me anything about the salary (cash in hand would be appreciated).

Please also guide me on the cost of living there, eg. price of transportation, price of a luxury car like BMW 5 series or Audi, Skoda or even Honda civic or Accord; rent of 2 bedroom apartments (appx 1000 sq. ft carpet area), medical bill, electricity, water and gas bill, internet, mobile phone bill, food bill if I cook at home and if i eat at restaurants, price of fruits, milk, veg and groceries etc, in-fact everything a normal man there needs to cover his day to day routine.

Btw, my wife is M.Sc in Math with B.Ed and presently she is working as a math teacher in a High School under CBSE board. Can she work there ? I mean is it okay that a woman is working and going to offices there in Qatar. If yes what will be her salary in her present capacity. I just wanted to know how much safe is Qatar for woman? I know incidents happen even here in India to woman, but the frequency and the attitude towards them matters.

I really dont know anything about Qatar so please tell me if I should move to.
