hi everyone,

Just want to know if 27,000 QR monthly package ( all in) is enough for a good life and some savings. I have less than 10 years experience in banking , married with one kid. Thanks in advance for your help.

U need to take it easy man...pls u guys are sounding like u r coming from the Moon...after all its just the UK...lifestyle in the UK...yea right...u earn pounds...here Qatar Riyals..dude...u wud get a 1/2 B FF accomodation for about 7500 Max or at the most 8500 incl of utilities...whcih is Elect n Water...not telephone...thats a slightly diff ball game...

Ur UK lifestyle will call for a Social Health Club membership...whcih wud cost u bout 6000 for an year for a family...thats taken care...

Ur Car wud cost u bout 1500 to 2000 for the better brands...a month

Ur monthly exp over the living which wud cover only the groceries and ur child's special requirements like the goodies wud cost u bout 2500 a mnth...

Ur socializing exp wud come to bout another 3000 a mnth at the max...buddy...even if u fall down drunk at the bars which is quite unlikely in ur case(dont know u though so cant tell...just a guess)...

So u calc and see what r we looking at for ur UK Style of living...

And dude with all due respect...u r coming from the UK not from the moon...so take it easy..its a good salary and u wud be able to save a decent figure...

Cheers...

Ooh, it depends on what kind of lifestyle you want to have here.

I'm not the best person to ask.

Can anyone help with typical lifestyle costs of a western expat family?_______________________________________________________

Diamondgirl, Thanks for your feedback. I can see things better now. what is your estimate ( cost) for good quality life in doha.

By diamond• 25 Sep 2007 19:27
diamond

Samir, the way you break it down is you will have 4 500 for monthly living expenses (food, socialising, clothing, electronic purchases, possible mini holidays out of Qatar (even to Dubai) once or twice a year, etc). For a family of three from the UK with a UK lifestyle I'm not sure that is enough.

Perhaps someone from the UK could chip in here? _______________________________________________________

I will not come to Doha unless I save something around 10,000 QR + my annual bonus. My plan is : 10,000 for Housing, 2,500 for vehicle and 4,500 for living. So I will have 10,000 saving. does this make sense?

Also, can anyone tell me how much are banks are paying in doha for people with 5 years experince + UK educated.

Hey buddy...this salary is a fantastic amount...in any time...ur bank pays for ur kid's school...all u have to is to take out a little for ur housing which is bout 8000 our 27000...dude u still have 19000...what r u gng to do with all that...a car will cost u 1500 per month...i mean come on ladies Diamondgirl, and Seahieress...be fair to the bank aas well as his exp and his designation...dont keep on telling that this salary is less less...looks like for u even a salary of 30k or 40k inclusive of all...is not gng to be enuff...with due respect...

Anyways on another note...what do u think is a good salary...and what r u comparing a salary with...how wud u fix a person's salary...

then as Seaheiress said you should factor in at least QR 10 000 per month for an apartment. Even more for a villa. This is starting to make your salary seem much lower, don't you think? Perhaps ask for family housing to be included in your offer.

i completely forgot about the rent and the schools fees....average villa is anything between QR10 000-R15 000. and school frees from QR12 000 to R30 000. Food about QR2000 fuel R+/-QR250

it all adds up!!!
