Commercial Bank - a good employer?

Hello and HNY!!!

I've got an offer for a Managerial role within Commercial Bank in Doha. Have any of you got any informed opinions about working for this employer from:

1) a salary and allowances point of view? Does it generally offer the best marketplace package in Qatar?

2) a 'how well they treat their staff' point of view?

Thanks!

just wondering mir are you working at CBQ? ONE of my friend is a manager at CBQ and he seems pretty content.

Another unique thing found at the work place was that people go purely by expressions...who overreact on petty matters and throughly have reserved anti-western opinions.......Shit place with absolutely stifling atmosphere and no upward mobility Religion and nationalistic sentiments are a priority there which erodes the contentment behind the money factor, Not an ideal place....

From not a managerial grade perspective but from an average employee perspective, the place is another crap. where there is politics on an extensive scale.

Staffed with the most illiterate lot of people who are having foregone conclusions and illogical derivations about the personality traits of others at the outset and waiting to screw americans.....Anti western sentiment is massive

I'm joining CBQ in Feb, and was very impressed by both the Management that I met and the offer on the table! I'm very much looking forward to joing the company as they appear to be very forward thinking and ambitious which seems to be generally lacking in the banking sector!

Hope all goes well, and hopefully get to meet up if you join the business!

Career stagnates no rewards no upward mobility and complete saturation.....

For those of us who have experience working with the group (Alfardan Group) it was indeed a very disappointing experience considering the outmoded management style of the owner who is very arrogant and insensitive to the flight of the employees (OT not paid, excessive work hours in violation of the Qatar's Labor law, racial discrimination, etc.) for which they are known for. Don't ever be dupe to believe about outsiders information, need to re-think your decision before pursuing any career path in that hell of a company managed and owned by supposedly rich but without character Alfardan's. Most of the expatriates (Managers & staff) working there are really contemplating to move out due to insensitivity of the management, expect your career to retrogressed once you opt to pursue with their offer, we are now experiencing the same.

Hi,

I agree, Commercial Bank is good here as a company. It's still has some ways to go to be first class, but it has market sense and customer-friendly. I personally think it's better than HSBC-Qatar in terms of responses.

That's good to hear, Richard123!

Anyone else have any informed insights about this employer?

is a pretty good bank. Its well run, profitable and has been in operation for 30 years so it is doing a lot right. I don't know about the packages but I think Commercialbank is one of the best employers in Qatar.

The beatings will continue until morale improves.

The package hasn't yet been disclosed to me. I'm really asking from a general, marketplace perspective.

Do you have any insights about this?
