Can I get paid during my notice Period by new Employer? will I lose my notice pay?

I am serving my notice period, having been terminated from my present employment. The termination later states that I am to serve my notice, however I am not required to work my notice period. I will like to know if the 2 months salary payments of the notice period payment stop if I take employment before the end of the notice period? can I get a salary from the new Employer during this notice period ?
