History in making: Qatar’s first Eid Festival to take place this week!
Considering the entire country has been delivering their absolute best in every regard, Qatar has welcomed the lifting of restrictions by announcing the first ever Eid Festival that will be taking place from May 3-5, 2022.
Qatar Tourism has carefully curated, what we have already titled, one of the most unique experiences for this Eid. A three day festival with entertainment for the entire family, you will experience the region’s first-ever balloon parade, followed by a series of events including fireworks, marching parade and food stalls
The parade
The lineup of the event starts at 3 PM on the Doha Corniche as crowds are welcomed to take their places, given the exciting programme details. The balloon parade, which is scheduled to start at 4:30 PM, is expected to be populated by 16 giant classic cartoon characters such as Mario, Angry birds, along with Qatar’s culturally diverse symbols such as the Falcon, Dhow and Dallah. Families get to experience the hype as a string of surprises is expected to keep your excitement going. The parade will also feature local and international marching bands on the Doha Corniche.
Concerts
Live concerts will take place at 7:30 PM all three days, where regional singers will take the center stage for your entertainment. Starting with Iraqi artist Mahmoud Al Turki on the 3rd, local artist Nasser Al Kubeissi on the 4th and Saudi artist Sultan Khalifa on the 5th, the high-energy event will be part of the traditional celebrations in the country.
Fireworks
The iconic Eid fireworks will be set off at 9 PM on all three days. The show typically lasts 10-15 minutes, drawing massive crowds every Eid.
Other entertainment
In addition to the exemplary lineup, the festival will feature food stalls and carnival games as well. The entire corniche will be decorated with food vendors as you simply explore the festival and sample some of the best delicacies in town. You can visit the caricature artists at the carnival, that is on-going till 11 pm. Or, simply enjoy the helium balloon showcase starting at 5:30 pm as you find yourself spoiled with choices!
