One of the most awaited festivals of the country, Eid-al-fitr is around the corner and there's nothing more exciting than some festive shopping to mark the occasion. This Eid signifies the end of the 30 day long period of fasts that Muslims world over practice, in order to draw themselves closer to Allah and indulge in good deeds such as alms giving. Eid-al-fitr across different regions
Eid al-Fitr is a two to three-day festival that includes special morning prayers. People exchange "Eid Mubarak," which means "Blessed Eid," and formal embraces. Practices differ from one country to the next.
Muslims decorate their homes with lanterns, twinkling lights, or flowers in countries such as Egypt and Pakistan. Special food is prepared, and friends and family are invited to join in the festivities.
In places like Jordan, where the majority of the population is Muslim, the days leading up to Eid al-Fitr can see a rush at local malls and special "Ramadan markets" as people prepare to exchange gifts.
It is also known as the "Lesser Bayram" or "festival" in Turkish in Turkey and places that were once part of the Ottoman-Turkish empire, such as Bosnia and Herzegovina, Albania, Azerbaijan, and the Caucasus.
