5 destinations to visit after breaking your fast
During Ramadan, the majority of Qatar fasts from sunrise to sunset, meaning the nights are bursting with feasting and celebrations as people plan to take advantage of those last few moments before their next fast looms.
With Ramadan just beginning and Qatar having a variety of places to visit after sundown, we decided to list our favorite destinations for you to explore! Here are 5 destinations to visit after breaking your fast:
Souq Waqif
Souq Waqif, which is located in the Heart of Doha near Msheireb, is one of Qatar's top tourist attractions. Discover the unique spices, jewelry, clothing, and much more of Qatari culture! Near Al Fanar Mosque you can see cannons being fired during Ramadan. It's an experience you don't want to miss!
The Corniche not far off from Souq Waqif has several Ramadan decorations and just before sunset, locals normally display their unique and rare car collections, which is a Ramadan custom that is not officially recognized. You should visit the Corniche area if you're a car enthusiast or just admire the elegance and beauty of cars!
Qatar Foundation
Multiple events are being organized by Qatar Foundation (QF). Qatar Run Series Challenge is being held at Oxygen Park from 7 to 20 April, which aims to promote fitness and a healthy lifestyle during Ramadan. Moreover, the park has a variety of sporting facilities suitable for all types of sports enthusiasts, meaning there are many opportunities to stay active.
Additionally, QF is hosting several cultural and educational events during the Ramadan season, including Garangao Night at the Qatar National Library on April 11th, Ramadan Cultural Nights from April 13 to 23, competitions for young people, and much more!
Gourmet District
Located inside UDC Tower, The Pearl, Gourmet District offers an impressive array of cuisines with Ramadan specials for iftar and suhoor. This unique destination also grants an amazing view of the West Bay Sea along with a European vibe. You can dine between 6 PM and 2:30 AM.
The Pearl Qatar, located on a fascinating island, offers luxury living blends with live entertainment and shopping, restaurants, unique destinations, and scenic backdrops that complement a vibrant lifestyle and enhance the overall experience.
Katara
Katara has unique Ramadan decorations and a bunch of activities and ongoing events. At the Mahaseel Festival, open from 7 PM to 12 AM (Ramadan timings), you will find an affordable and unique collection of pots, plants, vegetables, fruits, dates, and much more!
Located directly opposite the festival is the Family Shopping Bazaar, which features all the Ramadan essentials under one roof!
Katara has several food kiosks on Tasty Street, which also has several Ramadan decor installations; we recommend exiting the Doha Metro at Katara station, from which you can reach Katara Hills and Tasty Street, which is a short walk away.
Qatari locals also display their exotic and custom-built cars at Katara as part of this unofficial Ramadan tradition. The collection of rare cars, ranging from classics to luxury sports cars, is sure to excite car enthusiasts.
Souq Al Wakra
If you live in the Al Wakra area or are just passing by, you should check out their Souq, a bustling market where you can buy souvenirs, eat at a local café, stroll along the beach and swim, take a carriage, and go shopping because the streets are lined with restaurants and local vendors.
The Wakrah port which is opposite to the Souq is also a must-visit destination as you can experience its rich history as a fish village.
