Am also interested in sufism but here in Doha nobody knows about it or do not practice it..All my life I have been going to spiritual gatherings and now in Doha I cannot find what Im looking for. Does anyone know where else in the gulf I can go to find people who are involved in sufism and practice it?Or any good islamic talks and lectures I can go to?
Qatar is not the right place to know more about Sufism. But in Qatar we lay more emphasis on the way of the prophet. So good luck finding a dervish there.
We come spinning out of nothingness, scattering stars like dust - Rumi
I have heard that tents for dancing dervish were uplifted in Doha malls. There have also been some events related to it. I presume dancing dervish are from Turkey. I'd like to know more from anyone who has witnessed such events.
it is hard to find a sufi Qatari saints here unless maybe from other nationalities its because the main Islamic sect is Wahabisim where some few sufi pratices and music are porhibited in Wahabisim, but if u treavel to Bahrian u may find few sufi saints
Mystical movement within Islam that seeks to find divine love and knowledge through direct personal experience of God. It consists of a variety of mystical paths that are designed to ascertain the nature of mankind and God and to facilitate the experience of divine love and wisdom in the world. Sufism arose as an organized movement after the death of Muhammad (AD 632), among different groups who found orthodox Islam to be spiritually stifling. The practices of contemporary Sufi orders and suborders vary, but most include the recitation of the name of God or of certain phrases from the Qu'ran as a way to loosen the bonds of the lower self, enabling the soul to experience the higher reality toward which it naturally aspires. Though Sufi practitioners have often been at odds with the mainstream of Islamic theology and law, the importance of Sufism in the history of Islam is incalculable. Sufi literature, especially love poetry, represents a golden age in Arabic, Persian, Turkish, and Urdu languages

'Tis said, the pipe and the lute that charm our
ears
Derive their melody from rolling spheres;
But Faith, o'erpassing speculations bound,
Can see what sweetens every jangled sound.
We, who are parts of Adam, heard with him
The song of angels and of seraphim.
Our memory, though dull and sad, retains
Some echo still of those unearthly strains.
Oh, music is the meat of all who love,
music uplifts the soul to realms above.
The ashes glow, the latent fires increase:
We listen and are fed with joy and peace.
