Qiaam prayers and info

Here is a mail I received and wanted to share with you.
As salamu alaykum

The last ten nights of Ramadan are almost upon us, and I
wanted to take this moment to remind you about a cool Dua
technique that I do during the last ten nights.

When I was 12 years old, I used this technique, and 2 years
later I had memorized the ENTIRE Quran!

Here's what you do:

Step 1: Ask yourself: If Allah said he would give me
ANYTHING, what would I ask for? Brainstorm at least for one
page.

Step 2: Choose 6 of the most precious things on your list.

Step 3: Make dua for these 6 specifically every night for
the entire last ten nights of Ramadan.

ONE of those nights HAS to be Laylatul Qadr, so your dua
will correspond to LaylatulQadr if you make the same dua
every night. How cool is that?

With best wishes to see you succeed at the highest level!

PS: Please remember to make dua for my family and I during
your prayers in the last ten nights. I'll do the same for
you.

Anyone who is in need would qualify. Even someone who needs money for an operation or anyother need. What is important that you give from your heart and Allah will reward you for that. Giving food is not really concidered as Zakat. That would be Sadakah, which you can give all year round and is optional. Zakat is the money you should give once a year depending on your wealth.

Aisha wouldnt the labourers qualify for zakat il fitr, if southland wanted to pay directly to people in need, instead of charity organisations they are living below the poverty line too.

You ususally pay/give a sheep at the 2nd Eid. Again, you can pay these men for a sheep and tell him where you want it to go. Or you can buy a sheep and give it whole or give cuts of it to the poor around you.

I heard that sheep are brought here by the ship load from Australia specifically for Eid. I thought it would be nice to buy one for a family in need but alas, we live in boxes inside boxes in a city of boxes.

Thanks for the advice anyway everyone.

Southland,

You can give you zakat to one of the different organizations that are at all the shopping centres & supermarkets. It is these men sitting at tables with lots of coupon books in front of them. Here they have lots of causes to which you can give money. I personally do this all year round, specially if I just spent a couple of hundred rials on grocery. I always give something to them. Mostly to the African cause for food. You could do this or you could give your zakat - all of it or devided- to some poor people thay you know, live around you, a widow with a bunch of kids....

Abuamerican, I am so happy that your wife realized what Islam is all about. Allah answered your prayers. That is what Allah does. Al Hamdellah. So all of you, keep making your dua's and Allah will answer them if they are good for you.
