Many Qataris are forced into early retirement , as each year a number of employees from

Different goverment entities are identified as surplus employees

While they do receive the retirement settlement, many prefer to continue working

A solid proof is the huge number of applicants at the career fair searching for jobs.

Just last week, the proposal to reduce the retirement age of Qataris from 60 to 59 has caused a huge controversy among Qataris in local media

I plan to retire by the age of 40. No more work after 40, only indulging myself in my hobbies after that

Qhris,

In most cases, you do need to have one but its not always necessary to fulfill it.

Let me correct you, it is not the "people" who are demanding that, but the governments as they spent (wasted) all the retirement fund elsewhere and the only way to manage is to increase the retirement age and hence many people would pass away before they claim retirement benefits.

Now, for Qatar, if they afford it, let them enjoy it.

Don't you have to have a job to retire?

;-)

Yes, wouldn't that be great? Relaxing on a beach somewhere and going on a cruise even before your hair is white. Unfortunately, the reality is that most of us still have to go to work until we are 60.

Qatar is not yet a conventional example of a country in many areas.

Any attempt to compare Qatar with more conventional countries (non GCC) only makes both sides to look bad!
