Eid Traditions
By jasminejasmine •
On the first day of Eid we usually have many young visitors wishing us "Eid Mubarak" and they seem to expect a token gift, money, sweets etc.
I live in a small community and know most of the kids and want to do the right thing. Is chocolate/sweets ok or am I supposed to give money?
Any other traditions you can tell me?, it's really nice to know and then maybe join in a bit.
They would like money. The thing is to give them a min of Qrs 1,- the bills are usually brand new. You can give them a couple of bills each. Upto your discretion. But no sweets! Then they go home and count the money they got and then off to the shop to spend it! It is sort of a thing to them to compare how much each one got. I remember my daughter going to all her Qatari friends when she was young. It is very important to them. So make sure you have lots & lots of QR1.- bills. Ofcourse You should give to family and friends kids more.Dont give them QR1.- bills

thats sweet jasmine, the young ones age 4 or under would probably appreciate sweets as most dont know the value of money but the older kids wouldnt settle for anything else but money, just offer what you want, its a nice gesture from you..
When I lived in Saliya Jadeed they wanted "fluz, fluz". They got really angry when I offered them sweets and nuts.
