I mean they have all that desert out there...
Plus the structures n tarmac wouldn't be sinking...

I thought it was being built in order that those unfortunates who are required to endure the 45 minute immigration queues time after time after time ........ad finitum, whilst the girls paint their nails and talk to "someone" on their surgically inplanted mobiles, will have lovely new surroundings in which to ponder the lack of joined up Qatari thinking..........

I may of course be wrong .......

is for the Asian Football Cup Delegates in January.

I remember they put up a temporary arrival terminal in the same location in 2006 for the Asian Games Delegates.

Or is it for the QA budget airlines?

Has anyone apart from me noticed that they are planning to open a new arrival terminal near the Ras Aboud intersection right next to the Teyseer Petrol station? this is until the New Doha International Airport is ready..:)

I do not know, BUT i was thinking - I could be wrong

1) Maybe it is close to the current airport,

2) Maybe in case of a crash landing. A desert landing will kill almost all whereas a water landing will save a lot of lives. - Bechtel know what they are doing, i suppose.

3) Out of public way, the current airport flight path is over wakra and on the other side west bay hotels.

Just my thoughts, also, it maybe because of the scienic view.

Yeah when it snows no one can get to or out of the Denver airport, our past mayor Pena made that phenomenal screw up and made some farm folk very rich. Did you know the horse sculpture at the entry to the airport fell on the artist and killed him, its a big blue horse statue with red eyes, I think its evil looking. The artists son had to finish it.

It's out on the range in the middle of nowhere.

Its the ambience and the need to be innovative..

Airport in the desert would be out of the way and boring..
