WHY YOU JOINED QL?

... as I repeatedly mentioned on posts as well as on my profile, QL has proved the best source of information about Qatar for a newbie. Surfing through the topics, day by day I come to know the regulars and follow their posts and comments. After arriving I thought that this could also be a good place to socialise. And voila... last night I was on the dhow trip with a bunch of good and happy people.

Keep up the good work Qatari and all the good and bad (?????) people here, hey DaRuDe where are you??? hahahahaha

May the roof above us never fall in, and may the friends below never fall out!

Its tragedy stories and filled of honest feelings :) , we can make a new great movie about stories mentioned here..

Actually I joined QL by chance but I liked so much espcially that it iclude all the nationality & we have freedom to talk about everything with respecting for all the religions ,nationalities ...etc

I'd like to have friends via QL although till now I don't have any

I was searching for information about qatar and life standard befor leaving kuwait after along good time and through the search I found this site and i read acomment by dweller which was so proftional and wise..now am over here.and I still read most of the comments.which help to pass the time ..thanx all.

when I was surfing the internet in the UK before coming to Doha to find info on Qatar. Probably hit on QL when a thread came up on sports clubs in doha and having clicked on that I started looking at more of the natter going on. I found it very informative (I think I now know more about what goes on here than my husband! lol and he's been here a while now).

Anyway, eventually my fingers must have itched so much to type comments that I registered et VOILA! here I am and still thoroughly enjoying reading all you lovely people have to say, giggle and fight about ;o)

Accidentally joined QL.

I was searching for accommodation and some how I reached to this site, I registered my self and now for me it is like reading newspaper every morning.

Any way I am still searching for accommodation, I did visit two houses through QL but unfortunately those were not suitable for human living.

I need just 2 more runs to complete a half century!! With this post my points are 48!!! Please somebody ask me something so that i could answer and gain 2 more pts!

Well, when my husband was considering an offere from a Qatari co., I hv started looking for more information about Qatar. and i found this site very informative. My priorities were info, classifieds and friends then. Now after 4 months my priorities have changed like; friends, friends, friends...........!!!

Surfing QL daily is just like a trip to treasure island!!!Badly addicted to it!!!!

I joined QL primarily (before) to gain some infos about Qatar...but now, it has been my guide and the source of entertainment...oh, most importantly, i gained lots of friends from here :D

It has been 32 weeks and 3 days being a member here. I joined Qatar living coz it was very informative. It help me a lot with regards to, knowing what Qatar is really like, its culture, people, etc. There were friendly QL Members out there whom you don’t know but still, they were willing to help and even give you advice on any information, interesting forum, exchanging ideas and even met friends here...... But now it’s different, it’s up for you to see…….its like an episode of different scenarios with lots of actors involved, funny, weird, drama, crazy, K.S.P....V.I.P….. S.C ...S.P and at the end it doesn’t really matter.

Now back to the topic, I joined QL first of all for a commercial purpose but after that I never used it for such purpose again. I have more important and nice things to do here, meeting nice people and posting here becomes part of my life. Most of my social life events now are coming from communicating with QL members. They are more than just members on QL, they are my friends and part of my life also.

I am now! ;-)

I agree with Richard, you are such an important part of QL, we are interested to know more about you. Around the time I arrived I read a brilliant post from you in answer to people complaining about rat poison in compounds and you told the story of the Great Rat Infestation in the 80s I think,and the guy who came to sort it out. I have told so many people that story, in effect you have made me a more interesting person!!

But as also u can read .. u will find that it's reserved for drugs but it can be used also for social acitivities .. yes there is good addiction .. when i'm learning new things here that's good .. when i know more people that's so good .. when those people affect my attitude to a better one that's the most goodness ..

When i kill my time with useful thing that's also very good instead of doing somethings else ..

Tell us about Turkey. How are you enjoying living there and where in Turkey do you live? Never been myself (apart from a brief stop in Istanbul)but am planning atrip with my soon to be 11 year old daughter. The pictures I have seen look amazing. spent a long time in Qatar (17 years in total). I felt obliged to comment on some of the "moans" that some individuals were making. It's not a bad place to bring up the family. There is certainly much more to do than there used to be but the introduction of bars has killed off the home entertaining. An activity that allowed people to interact to a greater extent.

Life in Qatar is what you make of it and I think QL goes a long way to assisting people to make the best of it.

Gypsy Gal...I've been work, work, working...preparing for a business trip to London (that conveniently will allow me to go to Wimbledon!!!)...been attending a lot of obligatory functions....did however manage to watch French Open final yesterday and was devastated to see brilliant genius Federer lose to Nadal once again. Congrats to Nadal though, he is king of the clay court.

Scientifically .. it's something which u lose control on and it has the control on u .. when u try to stop it u find u r self helpless .. addicted to it .. like drinking, smoking, sitting infront of computer, phones, Pepsi .. and wutever .. anyting u r doing it and cannot stop it is called addiction .. QL is became one of my Addiction now .. a Good One

For me .. i remember the first day for me ... i was searching a job in qatar when i found this website .. i read a topic talking about a western lady didn't like the qatari attitudes ..

I was having a biiiiiiiiiiiig hate in my heart to the qatari nation

so i joined to offence someone who was defending qatari nation thought that he was a qatari man ...

i kept on my bad attitude .. untill i started to found another interesting topics .. and friends too .. it changed my whole attitude towards qatari nations .. i found that i cannot judge the whole nation from one attitude ... there is a real good qatari men and women ..

and my first gathering was the speach and hearing insititute organised by Aisha .. i met han19, sindbad in love, gypsyGal and Xena and a lot of friends

i started really to get addicted to that website .. but i stopped it at once and i didn't log on for more than a month suffering from bad mood and had 2 accidents in the same week when a friend of mine in QL send me an e-mail asking about me and was concerned why i'm not showing on board .. so i realized that this place i can get true friends and came back with better attitude .. with Love to QL members .. most of the time i'm online on QL fetching the gathering and trying to attend them ... that's it .. Dramatic story .. heheh ..lol

Before I came here I used this site to help me with the practical stuff, now it keeps me company through the week. I live in the middle of nowhere unlike you lucky Doha people. Have met some good people except DaRuDe, he has banned me from eating chocolate. (good friend really!)

I used it looking for an advert for an accommodation then intrigues me what's on it.... the rest is history ;-)
