it s so proffesional of them not to check if there is an paralel planned :))) this is not a big country and these things could have been easily managed.it's so funny that nothing happens here for 3 months and then in wone week you have to split yourself to go to your favourite events:)))))
i've been to the opening of dtff and some pictures are here:
thanks to the competition on QL, we wer able to get a close look at stars by being besides the red carpet. even though i got the PM saying that i won a ticket to red carpet, i dint receive any emails and was very frustrated. i went to the venue and when standing in the queue to buy some snacks, i heard someone calling a name 'tarek'!! yippee!! i found tarek and he was the one who send PM to all of us. he told us that there is a place reserved for QL people besides the red carpt.. and we wer there
The opening event was better than yesterday's tents, although the bolly dance moves were fun! fireworks were good and this event will put doha on the map what with the likes of scorcese and kingsley. But what about the SRK rumour...any truth to that?

I just check out the website and some of the 1 min video and making of it were quite good.. Infact the mentor the guy with musketeer beard is quite good ..
the fireworks were really the best I've ever seen (limited exposure to such things). We dressed up but I noticed that there were lots of people dressed down as well. Not really a red carpet experience as you see on TV but a nice evening out.
It's enough that such big names as De Niro, Kinglsey and many other brilliant actors & directors were there. There was no live coverage was there? I tried Jazeera channels but there was nuthin'.
When i got there approx. at 4pm..i cud see only few ppl. I thought probably the 3000 chairs arranged would not be occupied. To my surprise, i saw people struggling for chairs later. Many had to drag spare chairs themselves & make their space at one corner.

The organizers haven't heard of an "event calendar". I checked your photos, very good job, you're talented.

Some smart organizers have left some of us with one choice, either attend top women tennis or attend DTFF.

It is a good effort by Qatar.. there are still things to improve but this is definitely a huge success for a first-time film festival here!

Fireworks where great and dazzling. enjoyed.

most of the viewers must have been those out for a weekend stroll

I din't like the (so called) world's first Digital Red Carpet. A thick real Red Carpet makes the royalty.
