When shall we expect a world class customer service in Qatar

I have really suffering here from poor customer service in Qatar. I am talking here about all service providers such as Airlines, Banks , Governmental departments ,...etc.

I will tell you a small story I faced with Dohalank when I submitted for issuing a credit card for a certain limit, I have got a promise to expect receiving the card within 5 days. Due to internal problems in transferring the forms and careless management in following up. I finally got the post after 50 days!!!!

The surprise that i received two credit cards instead of one with half the limit for each one. When I requested to cancel the second card which I didn’t ask for, The employee replied smiley you can cancel it but you have to pay penalty for 150QAR and remember that there is a fees for issuing a supplementary card 200QAR. "I admit it is our problem but you have to pay" bank’s employee said. I will not complete the story but it is enough to mention that I escalate the case up to high management in the bank without any response. I would say this is a small example that all of us are suffering all the time from customer service here in Qatar and this mainly because of demanding market without any competition.

I would say that if the managers are powerful enough and know their real function, this hassle would never happen. The real problem in Qatar service quality is existing because of poor management

I found the best solution in banks is to only deal with the manager for everything....call beforehand to find out when he/she is in....oh and make it clear that you will not be dealing with anyone else or you will close all your accounts....you would be surprised at how little trouble I've had with banks now using this approach!!

I got the same statement from HSBC and was very smilingly told that there would be no charges. On the contrary in India I had paid up for these services.

Murali many private banks in India also charge nowadays for getting the statement.

So stop making generalizations.

I am with HSBC which don't have a Mastercard Debit card, can anyone recommend a bank that does that and is actually any good.

Cheers

yes i know that story ... you have to pay QR 25 for the statement. Nowadays we download our own statement from the internet through net banking.

I am applying for a Family visa and as mandatory requirement I went to ask for the last 6 months Bank statement.

Was informed that I would have to pay 25 QR per month for the statement. This looks like a daylight robbery as we have never been through these hassles while in India.

But an insider also informed me that if I knew someone inside u can also source it free of Cost.

thats Doha Bank................... and services

Qatar Central Bank, regulatory authority of Banks operating in Qatar offers an avenue for registering service related complaints for redressal. However, I not sure of the effectiveness.

Customer service is not important here.

Half of customer service advisors have very little training on what their company are actually able to do.

Most are in the jobs with a very little salary - so the incentive is not there to improve themselves.

Companies do not invest in the training of customer services.

Customer Service agents are not able to react with initative, have to check constantly with supervisors.

The funniest thing is that when you press the option for the English speaking sevices with some companies - they cannot even understand a native English speaker. I suppose if you can say 'Hello' you are allocated to the English speaking service!

Customer service here will only change when Qatar is not run by monopolies - which will be never! Competition - whats that?

That we might recall early in the morning while drinking our coffee and it will vanish the moment we step outside our houses.

Unfortuantely, the Consumer Protection authority is doing a perfect ZERO job. So we should expect a ZERO ranked service here that goes along the freezing weather now.

You will see see good customer service in Qatar about the same time you see camels flying over the corniche.

If you are talking about Doha Bank... yes they have had this 'credit card issue' for years and years.

How they win all these supposed banking awards I don't know. Makes you sick to see all these awards and smiles in the paper when they have treated customers like rubbish.

I know of two people that have shut their account after being driven to tears by the rudeness of the staff.

I know staff that have resigned because of the perpetual delay in issuing credit cards has just made their job too awful
