What malt beverages does QDC carry?

RyanCanuck
By RyanCanuck

A friend is going to QDC on my behalf (I don't have a licence yet), and I need to tell him what to buy. The catch is that the friend I am going with is a strict wine drinker and can't recall what's on offer beer-wise.

For you beer drinkers, help a brother out: what is on the beer list at QDC? I want to stock up while I've got the opportunity.

Thanks!

Perhaps they would all be avaialbe at the major supermarkets as christmas gets closer and 2013 may see some more QDC outlets opening up closer to the places where customers would find it easier to stock up. They say its part of the QDC getting more customer friendly

A lot of known beer brands are available in QDC. Just be discreet so you and your friend don't get into trouble. It is illegal to sell or give but most license holders are doing it anyway. Cheers mate!

Qatarisun is indeed correct. If your friend is caught, he risks his license, deposit, arrest and deportation. Two guys at Education City were deported 5 years ago. They both had licenses, but they went to QDC during lunch in one car and upon their return to work, then transferred the second fellow's purchases to his own car. They were observed and reported, arrested and deported (I'm a poet and didn't know it).

Our company lawyers have advised that CID has been called when someone has spotted booze in cars parked at shopping centres (presumably, they had stopped enroute to their homes).

Do people buy for other people, I'm sure there are. But you and your friend should be aware of the consequences no matter how improbable they may occur.

why "partially"?

I love beer too..and martini and baileys.. but I am right not "partially", I am fully right..

...once I went to QDC to buy a bottle of wine, just to hear from the cashier that my hub has finished the entire limit of QAR6,000 for the current month (we have a joint card), and only about 20QAR has left on the card.. So a gentleman behind me in line has offered his card to complete another 70-80 QAR, but his help has been rejected by the cashier, and the reason was "It is illegal".. so you can imagine..

qatarisun is partially right. it states there in permit rules;

#5.it is strictly forbidden to give alcohol to other's whether by sale or gift.

but personally i like an ice cold Corona :) have a good one!!

Yes, with a QDC license, purchase and then take directly home is the only thing allowed. If you go to your friend's home when your thirsty, maybe that is ok..... dunno

I don't think anyone can buy (legally) and take to someone else's home and "leave it there". Seems like someone will think this is breaking the rules.

If what I have understood, the alcohol is allowed to travel from QDC to only the purchasers premises and shouldnt leave the said premises thereafter. Sharing it with anybody at the said premises is not illegal but carrying it to some other place or it being carried elsewhere when given as a gift seems isn't allowed. I would love to be told it is otherwise...:)

Never heard or saw a rule to say that buying a gift for a friend is illegal. Selling alcohol on to other people after you have purchased is illegal though. Sharing a beer with a buddy is just good manners. :)

At the end of the day the ends justifies the means and after 20 beers who cares what you are drinking anyway
