What do single people do here?

izzie
By izzie

As someone young and single, I like to go out to bars and clubs from time to time. Not to pick up people just to have a good time with friends. Most people i've met here are older and have families so they don't go out as much. When i do go out with friends the people i meet are all after one thing and the scene's a little sleazy if you're a single woman. Where do young (ok maybe i'm not that young anymore) people hang out in doha? Doesn't anyone like to go out? Do all the normal people stay home and watch tv????? I can't figure out the scene here. Are there any non-sleazy bars? Any thoughts?

Well let me know so I can change my schedule, as am single and normally on sunday night I go to a massage from 6 to 7, Gym from 7:30 to 8:30, Sushi 9:00 to 10:00 and then a good movie until 1:00 am.

Naaa sunday nite is boring for me.

Single people here talk to the voices in their heads, have staring contests with the wall, count the number of hairs on their head...u know the usual stuff :D

and for personal messages people should use the service of the message box.

Forums are for everyone to read so people instead of posting your your friendship/love you posts try using the message service provied in the QL and guess what it is free and no one will know about your inner dark secrets. And Lets stay to the thread no matter how much you dislike it.

I like to go out. In my freetime (which is not much now) I like to go to caffes, there are one nice opposite of Jarir, or just go to malls or to the Corniche. I don't really like to go to bars anymore, because as you pointed out, here every single male is after one thing (but actually not only in bars).

The segregation and discrimination of genders is having a really hamrful effect on the society and the only thing that is on the minds of the oppressed and the repressed people when the opposite genders meet is.........You guessed it.

For some reasons unknown to me (some will call it ED) all my animal instincts/desires have faded.

Need to get some testosterone.:)

As for Mir's original post, I couldn't read it...was it removed? Too bad...i was looking for a laugh. By the way, Mir i'm actually not lonely, just looking for some places to socalize in doha. How did a question like this get so controversial???!!! Rainbow serpent, i'll take a raincheck on the coffee evening. Sounds like a good idea.

Whats wrong with my post....Thats wht single construction workers do here...>Helplessly oogle at single women at the corniche.........

Thats the sign of frustration buddy..... Helplessness.... Thats what is reflected in the person who has posted this..... He can socialise even the website has explicit details about QL social group then why is this question popped up....

Dude, to say that i am DISGUSTED would be putting it very mildly. You might have noted that i threw you out of my buddy list. I have no regrets.

You just proved to me again that what i did was right. There goes my last iota of sympathy for you. Not that it matters...

izzie - keep an eye out for the normal QL get togethers where a rather large group of people meet - mostly in coffee bars (Xena is good at arranging that) and when you learn to know people, go out for drinks with the ones from QL you like as friends. It's a great way to meet people from all over Doha (especially when you once in a while feel a bit bored over your colleagues.

We often go out to the "better" bars just to sit and talk and make stupid jokes (or gossip about other QL'ers)

I wasn't dissin the idea infact it sounds good. Went for dinner with a colleague the other night and was introduced to a whole bunch of ex-pats that socialise regularly, it's a great way to get a network going.
