What about escelators

By lebguy

Hey guys,

I was wondering how can the community in Qatar can be educated on escelator manners...All over the world, everyone knows that Left side is to stand and right side is to give way to people in hurry, who are walking or going up or down the escelators?

Let's be honest, this is only an issue at airports and train stations, where people may be in a hurry.

Is anyone really going to be in so much of a rush to get in-to/out-of a mall that they can't just stand on the escalator and wait?

i think it should be yellow so no over taking would happen.

Hey guys I read abt this somewhere long time ago... if 2 airplanes are on a collision path then do both of them turn to their right or left? I think it was left...

"Ali Baba and 40 thieves" are now "Ali Baba and 30 thieves" ; 10 were laid off.

I think lebguy is a troll, spreading false escalator information to cause an argument.

I would hate to drive behind Johnpur and yourself...

As per the highway code, its a "Double white line" that you need down the middle...

Actually the escalator or "moving staircase" was invented by a gentleman in the good old US of A. You know, for us lazy Americans :D http://inventors.about.com/library/inventors/blescalator.htm

... but then you'd get people hogging the left lane cos they want to turn left at the top ;o)

Absolutely, Mandilulur. DON'T STOP! Standing near the top or bottom fishing through your purse or using it as a meeting point for friends is also not good escalator etiquette. Seems to happen a lot here.

I suggest escalators be painted a white line in the middle

No overtaking using the slow lane....on the right.

When in a hurry I usually take the stairs 3 at a time....

"All over the world, everyone knows that Left side is to stand and right side is to give way to people in hurry"

Clearly not the case "all over the world". What made you think it was?

Actually, in the UK (Which invented the moving staircase), we stand on the right and allow people to pass on the left..

A little dyslexic this morning, lebguy? In the West we stand on the right and allow for escalator passers-by on the left. And the most important escalator rule is DON'T STOP when you arrive at the top or bottom!
