ewhhh... dont know how you find this, but its really yuckky for me........
i dont know if this was posted already here, but just want to warned everyone...

Beware if & when your Wife, Daughter, Niece or Girlfriend are travelling to China ,
just inform them to be careful when they are buying hair-bands down

the road. Who knows, what it is made from???????

These Hair-bands were made from used condoms and threads.

That was so disgusting, I would not want to use them!!

BEIJING (AFP) - Used condoms are being recycled into hair-bands in southern China , threatening to spread sexually-transmitta ble diseases they were originally meant to prevent, state media reported Tuesday

In the latest example of potentially harmful Chinese-made products, rubber hair bands have been found in local markets and beauty salons in Dongguan and Guangzhou cities in southern Guangdong province, China Daily newspaper said.

'These cheap and colourful rubber bands and hair ties sell well ... threatening the health of local people,' it said.

Despite being recycled, the hair bands could still contain bacteria and viruses, it said.

'People could be infected with AIDS, (genital) warts or other diseases if they hold the rubber bands or strings in their mouths while waving their hair into plaits or buns,' the paper quoted a local dermatologist who gave only his surname, Dong, as saying.

A bag of ten of the recycled bands sells for just 25 fen (three cents), much cheaper than others on the market, accounting for their popularity, the paper said.

A government official was quoted as saying recycling condoms was illegal.

China 's manufacturing industry has been repeatedly tarnished this year by a string of scandals involving shoddy or dangerous goods made for both domestic and foreign markets.

In response, it launched a public relations blitz this summer aimed at playing up efforts to strengthen monitoring systems.

I just checked out the pics! Well I suppose it there is a remote possability of catching it if the bodily fluid remained in the used condom. That being said - I wouldn't be buying any!!!

I mean that's probably true - the recycling bit - but there is no way you could possibly catch AIDs from that. The AIDs virus does not transmit this way! It does not survive exposure to air.

as u read the story, u know it's fake.

AIDS does not pass through that way, the virus hardly live 60 seconds in air....

while, there are always someone trade other ppl's health for money. we need a lot improvement, no doubt.

but don't worry, China do have strict control on exported products (for a long strategy, LOL, like Microsoft). And I guess only I use the simple hair-band, other Chinese girls use more luxurious bands. hehe

I have already stoped buying chinese things.. i.e. when ever possible. There are times whaen one does not have a choice but to buy them
