what esl and i am saying is true. all we have stated in response to the figures pothole gave camilla is that you need not necessarily get figures in the range of 6500-8000, it can be 2500-5000 also.it does depend on the place of employment, experience, nationality, how you negotiate your salary, and lots of other factors.

the intention of this discussion is not to expect huge figures for admin staff, just bcos some get it, the figures can vary.if you do get lovely figures on your pay check then excellant.

Hi ESL teahcer,

it's not really true. I've been offered an office job with salary of QR $4200 and shared accommodation, and I refused it.. finally I found better salary and independent accommodation is provided by company. All depends...

None of you is wrong. In Doha it is a very common phenomenon that for the same admin job a woman on her hubbys sponsorship can earn anything from QR 2000 to QR 12000+ even if the required qualifications are the same. All depends on the company, nationality, and who you know. Best admin jobs are usually given to friends or friends' relatives. Good luck in your search.

Working hours are different, it's not easy to find and job with the government because you have to be Qatari preferably, or at least Arabic speaking. And most companies work 8 hour days. Some, like mine, work 12 hour days!

we are not wrong dear research, all we stated is that most places offer in the range of 2500-4000, and its not so easy to find a range of 6500-8000.i dont know if the range differs for a legal sec, i do hope camilla gets a good pay, but the truth remains that some good for nothing secrataries take away more than 7000 per month, and some who really deserve it manage with whatever they get.sometimes it also comes down to your having good contacts and little bit of influence as well.

Camilla - Simmons and Simmons (Al Mirqab Tower, Opposite Sheraton) is a legal firm. The salaries I've mentioned is what a legal secretary might be offered. No, a separate housing allowance is not provided. Working hours would be 8 to 5, Sunday thru Thursday. Call 483 9466.

I would love to help you more, but on a public forum like this it's hard to keep ones anonymity. Qatar being a small place doesn't help either. Anyways, good luck.

PS: ESL Teacher, Han19 - You're wrong on the numbers. One of our good-for-nothing Indian ex secrataries earned more than 3.5k plus heaps of benefits. Admin staff (Indian) at Qatar foundation earn upwards of 10k.

so maybe hoping for 6500and above would be being too hopeful but you never know, some one might just earn it.

many private companies having 2shifts also pay the admin staff in the range of 2500-4000, and they have 6day working, the last day of the week being half day.

Even some of the well-known companies here only pay 2500-3000QAR to their admin staff, regardless of where they come from.

are you sure they pay 6500-8500 pm. most secrataries i know get paid in the range of 2500-5500pm, and no housing, transport may be provided.if on husband sponsorship, then no air tickets either.

did you mean this figure for western/european expats, bcos i dont think asians get this figure so easily.an indian i know, who is a senior secratary to a branch manager in one of the banks takes home 7000qrs, and she has 15 yrs experience behind her.

britinqatar can answer this better

besides the yellow pages in the directory there is a small section before the yellow pages that gives names of all companies and numbers. there used to be a business directory, dont know if that is still available, that book used to have all details of the companies you want to look up.

I am also wondering: is this amount of QR 6500-8500 including a residency allowance? Whether company provides the accomodation?.. thank you very much.

Are you sure about those hours? I thought government offices are open from 7:30AM-1:00PM, making business hours 5.5hrs/day and 27.5hrs/week, and all government employees part-time. Perhaps my numbers are incorrect, or government employees are somehow exempt (which would make sense since it would benefit natives and permit foreign labor to worked more).

Camilla - That would fetch you QAR 6500 to QAR 8500 p.m. Full time hours vary from 40 to 45 hours p.w. The Labour department stipulates 48 hours p.w. as full time.

Hello. :)

Just out of curiosity (as I'm not looking for a job until January).

What is the salary for a job like the one you offer?

And pardon my ignorance but how many hours are full time? (40 hours a week? 50?)

Thank you.

Camilla
