DOHA • A rally was held in Al Wakra yesterday to protest against the Danish cartoons which aim at tarnishing the image of Islam and Muslims.

The rally was held by the Saud bin Abdul Rahman Indpendent School in Al Wakra. A large number of students from the school, members of the faculty as well as people took part in it. A highlight was the presence of a large number of women and children. The rally was taken out from Sohaib Al Romi Mosque after Friday prayers and the participants were carrying posters, placards and banners denouncing the Danish cartoons.

Many residents took part in the rally and some of them were non-Muslims who joined the march on its way. One of the banners said: "We will not accept any humiliation of our Prophet (PBUH)". The reference was to the blasphemous Danish cartoons.

Another banner read: "Defend our Prophet (PBUH)." Most of the placards also read: "We'll defend our Prophet (PBUH)". "We pray to Allah to paralyze any hand which tries to harm our Prophet (PBUH)," said another banner. It was a peaceful procession. One of the participants told this newspaper: "We are here to register our protest peacefully. Of course, the blasphemous cartoons must be stopped. It is not good to insult the religious sentiments of any community."

Another participant said that he was upset at the cartoons and saw a conspiracy. "I am here to take part in this peaceful rally. Islam preaches love and peace," he said.

What's the idea of protesting against the Cartoons after months and months? I expect the next rally against the new movie in year 2010? By that time more than one movie embodying our Prophet would have been introduced to the public!!

Peaceful demonstration is fine. Even more better is not to act at all. The motive behind these mean works is quite clear now. There will be even worse malicious incarnations, if we, Muslims, give huge attention and fall into that obvious trap.

Sorry, I just don't.  Not saying I have the answer but, yes, I would hope that the efforts aginst this could be more focused on the true offenders.

May be u r right....could you pls explain why they bomb at civilians during the wars...many shops, lives and business are affected doing so... at the end it puts down the govt....

Also the govt is not a physical object or a person that can be caught and punished....!!!

I Re-read it, still don't see why all of Denmark should be punished for what one cartoonist belives???  If you think that the Danish govt. should have censored it then fine, protest the Danish govt. but what if the cartoonist was from your home country? Should you be deported just based on that? I don't agree w/ a lot that some from my contry publisize am I still in the wrong for beign born there?

Oh yeah,  thanks for your "advice"

What do Danish nationals and companies have to do with it?  Did they insult Islam?  Did they all secretly conspire to have this cartoon published?

If we all operated on such genealizations NONE of us would be here except Qataris.
