His little Gulf country has punched way above its geopolitical weight in the past year. Al-Thani helped broker a landmark peace deal between the warring Palestinian factions Fatah and Hamas. He secretly deployed Qatari commandos in Libya during the war against Muammar Gaddafi. And Qatar led the Arab League in its U.N. efforts to put pressure on Syria. Al-Thani may be cut from the same cloth as the other oil-rich potentates in the Gulf, but he has an altogether different style and agenda.

I wonder if he can catch up to the popularity of such important people as Stephen Colbert, with 79.2%, or Lionel Messi at 87.25%.
Even Anna Hazare has done well on this list with a 87.35% wanting him on the list.

LP--this list is not the same Time list in which it names a person of the year. This list did not start until the 1990s.
The person of the year which is being referred to traditionally includes the most IMPACTING person, not the kindest or most decent. If you go through the large list it includes all sorts of people who made their mark for good and for bad.

On the negative impact side it includes people such as Hitler, Stalin. On a more positive impact side, it includes the Apolo 8 Astronauts, Martin Luther King, and 'The Whistleblowers'.
Last year it was the anonymous 'Protester', the year before it was Michael Zuckerberg.

It means, whoever is on that list doesn't mean anything actually, regaledwin. So, why bother? Who is the Time Magazine? Who cares who is in THEIR top 100 list? Do I? No. Do you? Why?
You could always vote for Bashar Assad. He's on the same list.
So if Hitler has been times person of the year.. does that mean evry other person after him was like Hitler..?
