we are sick and tried of the monopoilistic policies of Q-TEL and are eagerly awaiting the full fledged services of Vodafone to get rid of Q-TEL..iam born here in qatar and have seen more than 30+years of Q-tels monopolistic programmes over a long period of time targetting mainly the majority expatriate population by high talk time charges without any fear of competition..we hear so much of their overseas growth and high performance figures ..but am really surprised after all that they want to resort to unethical means to loot people from their hard earned money by unreasonable means...i got my latest Q-tel bill which has a mozaic tv package and was shocked to know that the bill is double that what we normally pay...we started blaming ourselves for using a lot of international calls and mobile and thought of different ways to minimize our usage..when the bill came home we were shocked to see that the Mozaic subscription charge has been doubly charged and our actual usage charges were even less than normal..i enquired with 111 who after 20 minutes as usual keeping me on hold replied that it is their new policy of takng one month's subscription charge in advance..i was shocked to hear this asking the agent has Q-TEL also been affected by economic crisis in this month alone...also without any intimation of any sort they have just stopped trusting their hundreds of thousands of loyal subscribers and started fleecing our advance charges...WE ARE SHOCKED and can just wait for an international company like Vodafone to come with effective competitve programs that gives the end user and customer the service advantage...cheers....

Vodafone is no better.

One of my friends using vodafone has been billed the twice for the past two months. Each time he had to call up and make the followup to have the amount credited back to him again. So much for efficiency.........

Good that competition has motivated Q-tel to improve their services. It benefits customers like me. Service is slightly better. Monopolies (or cartels) are always bad for business in the long run, lack social welfare, etc.

The problem with Vodafone is that the service is really bad, so I heard. I see it as due to Q-tel having a very far head start. Rather pitiful for Vodafone.

i definitely agree with your point regarding Qatar's Limited clientelle.

No, rayes. The market in Qatar is limited. Once it is saturated Q-Tel has to come up with incentives to win extra customers. Take as an example Germany, there are 40 million users. That's why they can have lower prices. Any business in Qatar will suffer from the limited clientel. Qatar is not China!

You have Q-Tel shares, clever Lady.

thanks for your comment...i will make one thing clear that iam not part of any telecom sector and do not patronize any individual..however please look into the reasons why after so many years has Q-tel began to reduce tarrifs and triple their promotions from last year alone...their sponsorship deals are at an al time high..believe me it was never like this wen they were alone..we used to hear from them only during eid holidays where for the 3 holidays they used to offer half charges and that too the half charges to India would be comething like Qrs 3 per minute and all of a sudden last year they reduced the tarrif to India and now full charges are approx Qrs2.6 per min...iam sure it is the arrival of a telecom giant like Vodafone which is making them highly insecure...cheers

i do understand u...either u are working for Q-Tel or are greatly patronised by themselves or their partners whom they use for Joint campaigns ...all of who are greatly monoplistic and taking advantage of the basic fact that being the sole providers of a particular service we can dictate terms...however under the kind and able leadership of our Emir and his wife all this is a thing of the past as they are doing all the best they can for the people both citizens & expatriates of this wonderful country QATAR to ensure the common person in this country enjoys and chooses the services that he likes himself and is not forced upon.

Vodafone will be the same rubbish, because they're gonna hire local people, too.

I don't need vodafone, i am fine with Q-Tel...

moreover, longer they postpone their launching, better for me and my hub... I wish they would push it till the next year...
