Visiting Doha

Hey...I'm visiting Doha in a couple of weeks & I am still unsure about the whole visa thing...on the gov't website it says, "Applications for tourist visas are submitted to the Immigration Department (Airport Visas Section) by one of the registered hotels. Visas are usually given within 24 hours and are valid for 14 days. They can be extended for another 14 days."
Well...what happens if I'm not staying at a hotel, but at a friends residence? My friend is unsure & when I contacted the embassy in D.C., they guy seemed like he wanted me off the phone & was saying yes to everything before I even finished my question.
So, will I be able to pick up a visa at the airport (I'm staying less than 14 days) even though I'm not staying at a hotel? Do I need any other documentation?
TIA!
Brian
OK...thanks!
That's what I heard, but I just wanted to make sure. I didn't want to travel half way around the world & then not be able to get into the country. ha!
Thanks again...
Brian
if u have a US passport you can just show up at Doha airport, swipe your credit card and they will issue you a visa....
