Visit Visa Denied

Here is one for the books! :) My niece, who is single, wanted to visit Doha [not her first vist mind you] and went through the correct procedure with the necessary documents at the Qatar Embassy in Dublin. She holds a South African passport but has Irish residency. Her application was turned down on the basis that they do not want any PROSTITUTES in Doha ahead of the Games and because she is a single woman not living in her home country her visa was denied!! Needless to say she was extremely upset with the refusal AND being called a prostitute!!

Have a great day!

It is so sad to hear such a story. At least if they don't want to let her in, they should not call her prostitute and they don't have the right to call anyone like that.

It is very simple like being invited to a place and you did not like that food there, you can't say:that food got a creepy taste or who cooked that so i can give him/her some lessons. All you have to do is thanking the people who invited you and tell them in a nice way if you can't eat that food or keep it for yourself depending on the situation.

I don't know from where do they got such strange ideas, how can they judge people like that? If I traveled to Romania or Thailand, would I be a Pi** [sorry for that] and get refused too?

i am sure it was shoocking for ur cousin but this is the reason why single women are often denied visa when travelling alone. a friend just called his two unmarried sisters here. they were issued visas immidiately because they were acconpanied by their mother. try inviting her mother too!!!!

Where are the defenders now? No takers?

Narrow mindedness, here? NOOOOOO!

Anyway, that is probably the worst action to take with people wanting to visit a country. They want to come and experience Qatar and the culture and instead are turned down and called prostitutes.

What would they do if they were turned down a visit visa to the UK or the US and called a terrorist to boot?

Think on that for a bit...

Not everyone coming during December are coming for the Asian Games. For us it's the best family time of the year. Kids on school holidays and of course Christmas.

with the internet.........ant the satelite TV.....

do you think the sex can be banned 100% ?

with the economy booming here, how far can this prostitute ban stands?

everywhere you walk in doha, 99% you see are male.....would that pose a "time bomb like" social problem in terms of sex issue?

during asean game, you have nothing but the game, so if you have nothing to do with the game, you should not be here anyway. so y bother about the visa ?

If that was the case, how would the fans or family members of athletes of the Asian Games get their visa's?

What about those family members coming to stay for Christmas and have nothing to do with the games?

This seems absurd that the Government can do this. HOw do you know they are doing this .. where have you "heard" this?

Prostitution is forbidden. I am sad that prestitutions happens.

I heard that all visiting visas are not to be issued until the end of Asian Games.

I think our Governments should do something about this. Refusing a visa for legitimate reasons is fine, but that does not give the Qatari Government the right to Insult people and make conclusions. How would they like it if our Embassies brand their women that way especially the rich ones who go to study abroad and the young women who I have seen remove their black dresses to show of their designer wear when they are on planes flying to Europe.....

I am sorry your niece had to face that sort of a humiliation and insults. I hope she gave them a peace of her mind and demanded an apology....

It is almost always the case with single women between 18 and 30 being denied visas, unless, the P.R.O. of the sponsoring company has enough "pull" over at M.O.I.
