Qatar's Rivera nominated for 'world's best coach award'

Qatar handball team coach Valero Rivera is one of three in running for the title of 'world's best coach'.

The International Handball Federation (IHF) on Monday selected Qatar national team coach Valero Rivera as one of three candidates for the Best Coach of the Year award.

Germany’s Martin Schwalb, who trains home side HSV Hamburg and Frenchman Claude Onesta, in charge of their national team, are the other nominees.

Rivera, who helped Spain win the 2013 IHF World Championship title at home, had won the award last year. He was pleased with the nomination.
