Unused Medicines
By rafeeq.rashid80 •
What to do with the unused medicines got from the clinic/hospital? After a couple of course the illness will be cured. So the medicine will be remaining unattended at the shelves. In fact, the medicine is receiving for a less price. But its value will be much more for the needy.
The medicines expiry are more than a year. In that situation, not wish to trash it. Any alternative solution to give it back or put in the charity box or something else?
Hope my message is clear.
Please input your thoughts/ ideas/ solutions.
Everything has a purpose ............... This can be used to kill rats in your boss's garden for example .......... ....................
Addon.. there is a lot people visiting the hospital/clinics everyday. Also, most of them getting a bunch of medicines for a sum of avg. 10-15Qrs. I am sure, the patients consuming hardly 30% of what the doctor prescribing. The rest of medicines..?? If there is plan to save it, we can save a huge capacity of medicines. From infant to the super senior levels we can save a lot.
thanks for the comments. Where in India, all the medical shops having a box to deposit the unused, non-expiry medicines from the public. Later they will handover the medicines to the experts to classify. Once its done, it will be prescribed for the poor or the charity. Actually I wanted to know about like the system in Qatar?
If there is a paramedical team to classify the medics, that can also be donated to the poor countries along with the other donated materials. In Qatar, all the medicine prescribing is really fine grade and quality ones. Our unused medicine can save someones' life somewhere, better do not throw it. This is my concern.
Since the side-effects have to be considered, only a doctor can judge the usefulness of a medicine. You should destroy what you have left. Don't endanger others, although your motives are noble.
A very noble thought. However, when it comes to medicines, it is not like the other commodities that one could donate and be used easily by the needy. Medicines are best prescribed by doctors with possibilities of them getting misused when available for free. I am so far not aware of any organizations that accept unused medicines as donations. There should not be a need for this here as the medicines are provided at very subsidized rates at all the medical centers run by the government and they are well within the reach of the common man. You may wish to check with some charity organizations though, just to be sure if they accept.
As it is not legal to sell or give it someone without the prescription from a doctor better to trash it.
