Unofficial Karwa drivers?

Hi, there seems to be a great number of drivers in the green karwa taxis who arent wearing the regular green uniform? They are wearing a dark red colour.

These drivers never use the meter and in my experience drive in a dangerous manner.

Who are these drivers?

does that work? Don't they get after your case to pay them? I've had so many experiences where they've sat quietly and I've had to ask them ... Ummm whats going on and then negotiate a rate.

I agree, and all should be treated respectfully.

Thanks. If only they would realise that they are more likely to get tips if they use the meter and drive in a decent manner.

There are now 3+ different taxi companies authorized to drive under the Qatari Karwa name. You will notice that the top of the cab (roof) are either blue, maroon, or green. Each is a different company. The newest company seems to hire a lot of people who were running illegal private taxis here in Doha. They also seem to have many new drivers who have never driven on a road with rules before, and I agree are VERY DANGEROUS drivers. Prices are the same for all of them by meter. Don't get cheated by someone who refuses or says nothing but does not turn on the meter.
