First of all my parents are Pakistani and are very nationalistic since they have lived in the UK for over 35 years

Understandable and the reason why many Pakistanis outside the country are nationalistic is because they have lived long periods away from their birth place

It's not only about pakistani women, it's about Muslim women. You can say two great muslim women reject to scan their full body in UK airport.If I am not wrong as per Islam women are not allowed to show single inch any part of their body (Except eyes) to other men except Husband, son & father. Even though lot of muslim women are showing and they will be punished in judgment day. But in the UK airport through that scan machine full body vissible (As naked) & that's the reason why they refused to scan. In that sense those two women may be called as great as compare to other muslim women who don't care about real Islam.

Yousri - I have no problem with Pakistan. I grew up here and had plenty of friends from Pakistan and still do. Please don't start the Pakistan versus Indian thing here. Regarding any of my female relatives -be it mother, sister, wife or daughter - I don't have a problem with the scanners. It's a matter of security. Just like arien said, these things should be treated the same way they treat doctors and medical devices. And the matter of the issue was already discussed in a previous thread.

When it comes to the term "great" I disagree, because they have not achieved anything to be termed great. If they fight a case and win the right to board the flight without using the full body scanner -then maybe they can be termed so.

Personally I don't think these women have done themselves any favours here, their names are probably in the system now and will be "randomly" pulled out for security more often, and not just at UK airports :-(

I dont think the scanners are giving a perfect naked image. It is a xray image of body and immedietly deleted after the seconds long process.

As for the person that suggested x rays. Well if you travel a lot and you are x rayed each time, then that increase your chance of cancer. (Plus you will get to see women's bones so that is even more revealling..)

Theres a limit to how far we can go in the name of 'saftey/security', and personally I think this scanner is a step too far.

scanner machine only shows the body outline and detects whether you have something that is not allowed to take onboard (the airplane).

Why would they object to undergo/go though the scanner machine if they have nothing to hide? Someone said (above) that once they checked it through the computer, it gets deleted. So, what's the fuss all about for? :/
