Tragedy at Wakrah beach
An unidentified Qatari national
and an Indian expatriate were
drowned in a whirlpool at Wakrah
beach when they went out to save
a couple whose water bike turned
on its side in the sea yesterday.
The tragedy took place around
4.45pm, sources said. The couple,
the Indian expatriate victim’s sister
and brother-in-law, were rescued
by some other onlookers, however.
The whole incident was being
watched helplessly by the Indian
victim’s wife, two-year-old daughter,
parents and some other relatives.
The Indian victim, identified as
Jamsheed Mohamed, had been
working at the Al Sadd branch of
a bank for the last five years. His
father, C C Mohamed, a resident of
Doha for more than 30 years, also
works in the same branch of the
bank. The victim’s family hails from
Puthiangady in Kozhikode district.

ohh very sad.. this goverment needa hire some life guards..
R.I.P
Sad loss of life. May they rest in peace. They died heroicaly , but the idiots who got into trouble should ask themselves some searching questions.
Inna Lillahi Wa Inna Ilaihi Rajioon...For FatimaH prayers... Ameen
My thoughts and prayers are with the families of the deceased.
I second UKengQ on this one, A) the couple on the jet-ski were in all likelihood wearing life jackets B) there is ABSOLUTELY NO EXCUSE for public authorities in this, "the richest country in the world" not to have proper facilities & trained personnel in place at public beaches...it is just unacceptable & what happens as a result is tragedies like this where the victims, out of compassion for their fellow human beings overlook the fact that they aren't trained for the purpose, this wouldn't have happend if there were lifeguards in place...tragic & COMPLETELY unnecessary loss of life...may the departed souls rest in peace...
May "both of them" be accepted as martyrs.
Such situations are really testing who we are.
In my opinion If we can think and act in pure logic in such situations we'll be no more human beings.
really very sad story, May allah give strength to his family.
Oh sad story..may his soul rest in peace..
Inna lillahi wa innah ilaihi raajiwoonMay Allah have mercy on his soul .. May Allah make him amongst those he forgave … May Allah make his grave a garden of the garden of paradise… Ameen.
and sad loss of life.
I agree with UKEngQatar but its an reflex action and instinct to save another human life without caring about yourself.
Ameen to FatimaH prayers.
Raheemullah Jamsheed Mohamed...May Allah accept him as a martyr for indeed death by drowning is a form of martydom and what a noble way to die, attempting to save the life of others. And may God now grant His mercy and ease immensely on the families and friends of the victims. At least they can still find solace in the fact that in a world full of selfish people their loved ones actually died such heroic deaths. And yes trained life guards at beaches are definitively a must. Such tragedies needn't occur in the future if the authorities now act fast.
Sad loss of life. Even they had very good intention the decision in my opinion was poor. Just seen this kind of accidents so many time.
The lady who fell off her Jet ski probably had a life jacket on!
Number one Rule of Rescue if you are not trained to rescue then don't.
I personally think that it is time the Authority woke to the fact that Public Beaches like Wakrah and Sealine should be managed by the Muncipality with adequate facitities like proper access, shower facilities, toilets and most important of all Trained life guards.
If Dubai can do it I am sure Qatar can too.
