Traffic problems in Doha, Qatar

Heavy traffic, narrow roads, lots of round abouts in each and every half kilometer is the problem which needs immediate solution. Especially in morning office time, the traffic in main roads of Doha are very jammed and hundreds of peoples are in que on the roads every day for hours. This situation is more critical when an accident occured on the road and both the vehicles parked the vehicle on road on same accidental position. Normally Doha Police not reached in time and the traffic gradually jammed to jammed condition. Lot of people are suffering on daily basis due to heavy traffic problems heady fuel consumed/charged on off road condition. One of the solution of this problem is to immediate destroy of maximum round abouts/Chowrangi/Dawar and instal a signal system which is necessary to control the traffic as adopted by the modern/foreign countries. Other one is to stop the Heavy luxury buses (KARWA) on these narrow roads of Doha and inplace start a mini buses/coaches service in same name KARWA of about 30 persons capacity with enhanced quantity to cover the maximum load, which is easy to run on narrow or jammed roads and also not create a traffic problems due to luxury length. I thing Luxury bus service is fail in Doha because maximum seats of the buses are empty, the timings are also not good. It would be better and more helpful to control the traffic problems, if mini buses/coaches are start service with enhanced quantity and reduced timings which is suitable and attracts every man. Your kind attention is invited to the matter above.

anish kerala,

LOL... trust me that is exactly what everybody things at their initial stay in this city.

If you want to know about the next typical phases, it’s more or less like this:

1. You identify problems and try to provide suggestions to solve these problems;

2. You realize that not a single soul cares a bit about anything here, as we (expats) are all here to make money and leave and the locals are not in touch with our problems as they get almost everything they want without any big effort;

3. After realizing that all your efforts to contribute to improve things here fail, you then adopt a passive attitude, taking everything for granted, expecting that you will always have bad services and nothing goes as planned. You also learn that when you get good service and things go OK, it’s a bonus from the gods.

4. And then you go on like this, a bit with your life on stand by, until you hopefully get to the day that you can go back to your family.

This is pretty much the trend of those who arrive here, identify problems and dare to suggest improvements.

Good luck!

lol anish kerala, please tell us something new. Give us a solution that the traffic authority hasn't already thought of.

They are replacing roundabout with traffic lights.

Public transport is an essential service. And I'm certain Karwa knows better about occupancy in the buses and the frequency of buses on each route. Karwa buses are definitely not the cause/only cause for the traffic condition.

There was a report in Gulf-times a few days ago in which a traffic official said 10,000 new cars are being added to the roads of Qatar each month.

Perhaps a sea bridge link across corniche leading into West bay ? :)

We all pay the price for progress..

You want some relief? Some relief will come when D-Ring

is complete. Alot of traffic will flow from C ring to D ring then.

SALWA ROAD needs to be an expressway as well. The entire length all the way to the Corniche.
