Things i'll have to do without in Qatar

By Manna Pro

I've been learning a lot here, what to do, what not to do, what I probably shouldn't do- so I've been formulating a list. Here's what I got so far

1) No gambling
2) No fighting
3) No yelling at the natives
4) No Hebrew Nationals
5) No Bacon
6) No Road Raging
7) No kissing in public
8) No hand holding in public
9) No bringing women in through the front door
10) No drinking out in public
11) No Guns
12) No snuggeling in public

I'm sure the list will grow exponentially as I learn more

13) No raising of the middle finger. This could land you in jail.

Hillarious!!

Btw bacon I heard is now available at the alcohol shop... you know, there were sinners go once a week...

I was about to add to your list ´your freedom and your children´ but then I realised you are a guy, so I guess you have no need to fear that.

Let's see:

1) No gambling - no government organized or condoned gambling no. But feel free to set up your own poker games and betting with "buddies."

2) No fighting - Not with locals no. With anyone else, go ahead.

3) No yelling at the natives - Nope.

4) No Hebrew Nationals - Sure there are.

5) No Bacon - At the QDC

6) No Road Raging - Don't road rage at locals. Everyone else is fair game.

7) No kissing in public - You can do pecks on the lips at the malls or the corniche or wherever, but if you want full blown make out sessions save it for the Qube or the Pearl.

8) No hand holding in public - hand holding in public is fine.

9) No bringing women in through the front door -How else are you going to get them in your house? A window?

10) No drinking out in public - You can drink in bars, or if you go camping sure. But not walking down the street or on the Corniche.

11) No Guns - most locals have them.

12) No snuggeling in public - Depends on how handsy you're going to be.

I'm going to use the year or so I have there to improve myself. Execise more, read a lot of books and eat pure food. My self improvment program begins the minute I step off the plane.

I'm not talking about pushing strange women up against a wall and kissing them..I'm talking about wifes and girlfriends. Thats how I do it. I get em up against a wall and pin them there so they can't get away. They seem to like it unless they're really mad to start with.

All these means that you are in A peace full country.

Live as human being and enjoy your life no body hurt you no one rob you on gunpoint no one rap you.......expet some cases.

In other countries a long list of robery, murder and rap every day.

May some cases happend here but very rear....

Thanks

MP:Better you get here first and then judge for yourself the do's and don'ts..it ain't as bad as some people may make it out to be nor as good as others might. Most Americans I know love it here. Ok agreed the majority of the ones who do are Muslims, BUT all of em are converts and born and bred in America. And I do know quite a few non Muslim westerners love it here too and if not love at least like it quite a bit.

Don't sweat the small stuff.. focus on the bigger picture. All of us have in some form or another had a lil culture shock here and there but you gotta then concentrate on the positives.

As for the negatives, do everything in your ability to set things right and work in your favor.

On a lighter note you'll have to get used to not having much variety in terms of certain food items(I should get my head outta the fridge)

Ex: chocolates and peanut butter

But hey, with time you'll get used to it,find substitutes or simply learn to do without.

Cheers!

Mana Pro pusing a girl against a wall and kissing her in public is considered indecent everywhere. In fact there are laws in cases of public misconduct .I lived in Australia for 3 years so i know this.

All the things mentioned happen in Qatar. But they aren't made public. (Every single Qatari I know owns one or more guns!)

Industrial area workers, seems, are more confident about themselves as they come here without knowing anything and then take things head on.

Please tell me where I can find Hebrew Nationals. I'm assuming you mean the hot dogs...

______________________________________________

I'll try to make some kind of arrangements to get them there.

Non Americans: A hot dog is a long cylindrical piece of meat that is normally served on a piece of bread called a bun. It's typically served at American Baseball games or served to children for lunch.

No road raging? Try driving on the fast lane on the roads here then don't move your car when someone flashes you from behind and you'll learn the definition of "Road Rage", Qatar-style. @__@

So it's legal for a single man to push a woman up against a wall and kiss her on the lips, in public?

As long as she doesn't mind?

2--Not allowable in most countries

3--Not civilized behavior in most countries

4--Yes there are

5--Yes there is at QDC for non-Muslims

6--Again, not allowable in any civilized country

7--Allowable in modest form

8--Where are you getting this from? Even men hold hands here.

9--???

10--Limited in even many Western countries

11--Limited in most civilized countries who don't like huge murder rates

12--Depends on who you want to snuggle

Clearly you do not know Qatar well. This is not KSA or Iran.
