is there any way i can get 1 year validity on my HALA sim?
By Architect.J •
well i'll be leaving qatar for a year for my masters, but i want to keep my present mobile number.
Is there anyway i can do this? when i recharge, my validity increases from the day of recharge.
i remember the old recharge system, where you could choose if you want to increase your credit or your validity. do they have anything similar now?
i meant you dont get any talktime. just your validity gets extended by 360 days.

its really a 20 sec job, i spent over an hour in there! and u can do it for any number. QR180 gives you 360 days validity top-up (but no credit).
What do you mean with no credit?
just thought i'd update this thread, for future reference.
YES u can extend the validity for 360 days. i just did yesterdday.
u need to go to the Qtel office at Sadd, and you can do it at the machine outside the office, no need to go in!
ofcorse i found this out the hard way. went in, took token for customer services and had to wait only to be told to go to the information desk. so i stood in queue at the information desk to be told its done at the billing counter. again took another token and had to wait my turn to be told that its done from the machine outside the main door!

but if you are out of the country for 6 months the sim card is disabled untill you enter Qatar
why not change to post-paid to subscibe your HALA, just paid monthly through you e-banking or creditcard payment or using your bank to automatic payment to qtel.
my number fine with me, by this ways and also can call and received while youre abroad
i think if you just keep pumping in the credit worth 200Qr i guess you will reach to 365 days.give it a try and then tell m :D

I asked the Qtel office at Hyatt Plaza about the 180 QR card and they said it is only available at their Al Sadd office..
hmmm... i did some more searching.... seems like there is a QR180 top-up card http://www.qtel.com.qa/PrepaidHala.do?prodtype=1#Recharge%20Cards
never heard of it before! anyone know wher i can get it?

no, its diff now. if u recharge ur credit for QR 30, u will automatically get 30 days validity.
only way to keep it valid for a year is to recharge for QR 365. Am not sure whether they have got any limit on that too....
