Temporary Closure of Al Markhiya Street on Corniche
Just in time for the weekend, the Public Works Authority announces the closure of Al Markhiya Street - this is the stretch between Khalifa Tennis stadium and the corniche (next to Commercial Bank towers).

As part of the construction works to change the Corniche Street roundabouts to signalised intersections, the Public Works Authority ‘Ashghal’ will be closing a section Al Markhiya Street in both directions temporarily.
The closure starts from the intersection known as Al Barzan intersection on Al Markhiya Street until Ludaihi roundabout on Al Corniche, and will be effective from the evening of Thursday 5th of September.
The closure will last for one month.
During this period, commuters can use Al Fundoq Street that leads to the Sheraton roundabout instead of the closed road (as per the map attached).
‘Ashghal’ is working around the clock to make sure that the project is completed on time.
Once completed the new intersections will ensure smooth traffic flow in the area and reduce traffic congestion.
