If you loved walking on the beach, snorkling, I think the best place for summer vacation is in Phuket Thailand the weather is very nice. Shops are everywhere, good restaurants, and everything is cheap.

The second option is Boracay Island in Philippines its white sand and cheap also and i will assure you that you will really enjoy it.

GOOD LUCK

Hi guys, am glad to find this thread. Was thinking of going turkey from mid aug till end aug. according to this weather website (http://www.weatherbase.com/weather/weatherall.php3?s=6071&refer=&units=metric), Istanbul seems ok. ave max of 27C with humidity of 80+% in aug. However, some other websites say that it can go really hot till 40C in aug.

What are your experiences in Turkey like? Is it still bearable in aug?

Am thinking of going central turkey (ankara) and aegean region as well.

Israel was a great country to visit when I did so in 1992/1993. It had beaches, small mountains, little cute towns, relics. You couldn't throw a stone anywhere without hitting something historic...either Jesus walked there, Joshua, King David, or somebody else. I intend to go back someday when the political atmosphere is more stable. When I went before, the Oslo peace accord was just being formed so peace was in the air. I even walked on foot from Bethehem to Jerusalem.

Novita and canarybird, I've been to Turkey a few times. Was trying to suggest it to logicsays if he wants a beach vacation.

You can't go wrong with Turkey--there's something for everyone! I would like to go back again as I haven't been to the mts or the Black Sea.

Turkey is great, if you like mountains, and sea together go to Fetiye and then to a place called Oludenz (means Dead Sea) there is a wonderful by there and there are mountains too. They offer a great many things such as riding in the mountains Paragliding etc. etc. there are also very nice boat trips out and around. I have travelled all over Turkey and another option would be the Black Sea just wonderful countryside and plenty to see.

Logic, you're right, it's time to get away for a while. This summer I will experience beach, desert, river, hopefully mountains with forest, small towns and big city.... a little bit of everything!
