A woman friend of mine went down to the Immigration department today to get her husband a residence visa under her sponsorship. They were refused - apparently, as of today, there's a new law in Qatar saying women cannot sponsor their husbands anymore! Only men can sponsor their families. Does anyone know the reason for this? And if it will affect renewals for those who already sponsor their husband?

from what i read, only employees of HMC and MOI are allowed to sponsor thier husbands. sorry I don't have any idea about the renewals.
