Spending Eid al-Fitr 2012 in Qatar
With Ramadan wrapping up, Eid al-Fitr holidays are just around the corner.
For those of you who are getting some time off and spending it here, here’s a guide to what’s happening over the break, including events and government and hospital hours.
Be sure to check back, as we’ll add more to this post as we get it.
QTA ACTIVITIES
The Qatar Tourism Authority has organized a bonanza of activities over four days to make it an enjoyable holiday.
Starting on either Saturday, August 18 or Sunday, August 19, depending on which is declared the first day of Eid, there will be:
- Nightly fireworks at Katara Cultural Village, at 8:30pm.
- Traditional Qatari games, crafts, food, music and other activities at the Heritage Village, from 4pm-11:30pm.
Arab singers will perform at the new Al Rayyan Theater at Souq Waqif, from 9pm-midnight.
- The play “60% Qatari”, starring Abdul Aziz Jassim, will be performed at the National Theater, with an 8pm showtime on the first day, and shows at 6pm and 9pm subsequent days.
- Aspire Park will be open to the public 24 hours a day, while the Museum of Islamic Art Park will welcome visitors from 10:30am-11pm.

Thank you for the link. It actually just helped to prove my point about how poor the marketting is here.

please Check out http://www.qatarhappening.com/event_details/1242/5
for whats happening here..
It really beats me.
We know the dates for Eid Al Fitr well in advance each year (give or take a day each way)
Yet there appears to be no forward notification of events. No "marketing" of the events.
Its typical of everything that happens here. There seems to be no publicisng of anything at any time. How can you expect people to turn up and enjoy these events unless there is a coherent notification and publicising well in advance?
A perfect example was the World Billiards Championships which took place in Doha in July. I found out about it yesterday, yet the world's top players were performing. Did you know?
Come on Qatar, this could be a great place to live with lots of things to do if you just told us what was going on.
Fireworks to spend time in a good way...Really?
Traditional Qatari games, etc.???
Arab singers ...dont understand Arabic.
The play “60% Qatari”, ...must be in Arabic, so again not useful.
Aspire Park will be open to the public 24 hours a day...in this heat, not quite interesting.
So far nothing good.
However, this one is interesting "Be sure to check back, as we’ll add more to this post as we get it". Please add something truly interetsing for single adults & not only for kids...:)
