seafoods and poultry

Is there someone who can tell me where is the best place to buy seafood and poultry in Doha? By best place, I mean in terms of price and location or distance to my area. I'll be staying at the Staff Housing Complex of the Intercontinental Hotel, which is within the same compound as the Hotel. I've already looked into the prices of fruits and vegetables as well as grocery items from a post by another member, however, it doesn't say much about seafoods and poultry. Any ideas guys?Â
Thanks so much for the info, i'm actually leaning towards shrimp, oysters and the like, as well as turkey meat.
I have tasted fish bought from the Fish Market (off Salwa Road), the Supermarkets, and the Corniche (near Doha Port, about 10 metres from the Halul Cafe). I found the ones from Corniche is the freshest. However, in Corniche, you may not have the varieties, and squid or prawns are hardly being sold there...mostly fish and at times, crabs.
Fresh poultry, you can buy from Fish Market. There is a Section there (adjacent to the Seafood Section) that sells live chicken...you can either bring home the live chicken or ask them to slotter and clean it for you. Meat and mutton are also available there.
Why? Is it a war zone?
The nearest to Intercon would be Carrefour. The fish section had health issues before but it has now been renovated up to standards. They clean the fish for you. I don't remember the poultry section having been closed in the recent past. If you are buying only for personal consumption, it's not worth going all the way to the cental market or to the other end of the Corniche - too far and to risky to drive.
I think you can buy seafood at the Corniche, they have like a little market at nightime. :)
For seafood you can't beat Doha's old and original Fish Market which is basically on the same road that takes you to QDC.
If you go early in the morning you might even get a look at some of the fish still alive. Very early and you see how the fish are auctioned off to the merchants in the stalls.
If you are seeking the air-conditioned experience then supermarkets are good. The Family Food Center fish market is quite varied. Avoid Cafreefour as it's already been shut down a couple of times for violating health codes.
Can't help with poultry as I don't eat them.
