Notice / Leaving for good / No claims whatsoever after this period

The sponsors out here hold their workers passport and then additionally everyone needs an exit visa to get out of the country and after all this practices in place does it make sense or is it right to put notices in the papers regarding the employees who have been working with the company while they were in the country. Does it send the right signals in a civilized society and of the papers that print such notices. Just yesterday there were six such notices in one of the local papers.

NHRC,part of the elaborate facade to convince the world that they are in line with the rest of the world as far as human rights are concerned...for the NHRC to be REALLY effective in this country, they will have to be allowed into EVERY SINGLE household in this country that employs help & EVERY SINGLE labour camp & give a FREE,UNBIASED hearing to ALL those maids & labourers & then take PROPER LEGAL action against the people that have abused these people's human rights,ONLY THEN can people say the NHRC is TRULY doing it's job, until then, the ONE maid or TWO labourers they RESCUE or HELP means nothing, like i said,a facade to convince the world...just like the conferences being held here on "environment friendliness/going green" & "democracy",now how ironic is that???...

Is there anyway one can complain the NHRC anonymous? or they insist for the informers identity?

Heard a moron and wife in the compound didnt pay their maid for past many months and she ran away. :O

Yes the NHRC is taking serious action but unfortunately some people are wasting time by complaining and not doing anything about it. Some others don't know better and their employers would take advantage from them.

Come on guys, we are here and get ready for it before we come.

There is one huge building besides Doha Petrol Station in Fariq Abdul Aziz with illuminated signboards (NHRC). What is that for? Are they doing something?

This things like Notices / wanted, etc used to happen in the wild, wild west once upon a time and seems out of place in todays system. Some companies continue to do this things because they know they can get away with it.

That's why people constantly complain about the sponsorship system and why the government constantly says it is 'under review'.

It's immoral, but the sponsors enjoy the power. Conflict of interest.

You should go for a travel ban of the company then, until they paid, WK.

I didn't have any loan pending, infact my company owed me around 40,000 QR which I told them they can transfer to my account later on but still I was not allowed to leave after the completion of my contract. Had to beg for my exit permit for around a month.

Modern slavery indeed.

The common mistake people fall in to, is assuming is that this is a "civilized society"!

You can say that again, smoke: Companies ARE NOT ALLOWED TO KEEP the passports. How come they still do?

No company is allowed to keep anyone's passport. Exit is required to stop people from taking loans and leaving the country or if they are involved in any other such criminal activities. Its published in the papers so that if anyone has any claims against that person they may contact the company or that person and settle it.

It's called "Modern Slavery". (Coined by the UN).
