Renowned Comedian Russell Peters to Perform Live In Doha
Popular Canadian comedian Russell Peters will be performing live in Qatar on Sunday, October 20, at the Sheraton Doha Ballroom for the first time.
The show is part of Peters' ”Notorious World Tour” which includes performances in Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Oman.
According to Forbes, Peters was the third highest paid comedian between 2009 and 2010.
His jokes center on amplifying cultural and racial stereotypes. He has also become notorious for being able to perfectly mimic different accents, and for portraying certain norms in a light manner.
Comedy is by no means new, or totally foreign, to Qatar.
Stand Up Comedy Qatar, or SUCQ for short, has been making people in Doha laugh for the past 3 years and a bit.
The group aims to grow "local home grown grassroots comedy" that deals with the type of issues that we the people who live here deal with on a daily basis.
Having Peters in town should surely be a boost to their movement, and hopefully help further educate the local market on this specific form of entertainment.

Tickets will be going on sale on the 26th of September.
This show will be only for 21+ with a valid ID - which probably means that it will be an event that targets those that drink alcohol.

He had a very tiny non-descript role in the movie 'Source Code' with Jake Gyllenhaal.
Russel has acted in a 2012 film called Girl in Progress, with Eva Mendes and Patricia Arquette and some others. He is quite funny, really.
i too think he is hilarious..but i also do think 250 is a bit steep..250 is steep even for the Cirque de Soleil..
He's a stand up comedian, hes not into movies..yet.

Clearly you dont know who Russell Peters is??! he is one of the top 3 comedians of the world and has been in several hollywood movies. His live shows are almost always sold out! Do your reserach before writing such racist comments.
