QUESTIONABLE QTEL BILL
I'm seeking for your proper advice. I went for a holiday in USA last December & at times, my qtel post paid line is sometimes working & most of the times it doesn't. I didn't used it that much though coz my other provider's line is really working well. I was trying to use my mobile internet with qtel but most of the time it says, connected with when you try to browse it will say TRY AGAIN. Upon coming back to Doha & inquire for my account balance, to my surprise, I was charged for more that 6,000QR. My credit limit is actually 600QR only with only 130QR Shary plan. They ripped me off with the internet charges which I could hardly even use during the trip.
That's why I set a credit limit of only 600QR coz I don't want to spend beyond that.
What shall I do? I went to their legal department 3 weeks ago & said they will investigate. But then now they called me & said the charges are right. Shall I put it into writing why they charged me beyong my credit limit? They should have cut my line after I reached 600QR.
Thanks so much for your comments.
Had the same problem a while ago! Absolutely no one will listen to you! Done that.... I felt so wasted.....they'll just try and give you a plan on how you'll settle your bill with small installments!
Dudes Mandy just give an example, let him freeeeeeeeeeeee
Hi
1.within how many days your IR usage is been charged to you. Check in their portal or CC that within how many days IR usage can be billed to a subscriber.
Idealy if the usage is going absurd beyond your credit limit ideally the services must be restricted.
But again it depends on operator (US) when they have handed overed the usage to Q Tel to bill a subscriber. In case the usage has been received by them they should have barred your no.
Just do your homework on point No.1 then lodge a complaint stating when the cr limit was assigned as 600 then how the usage can go beyond, why the service was not restricted on time.
I incident with Q tel post paid,I brought a new mobile having Wi Fi,I have credit limit of QR.2000 riyals for Q tel post paid,I tried to use my Office Wi Fi connection from my mobile,After logging to my Offices Wi Fi i got message that i am sucessfully connected to guest network. So accordingly i used my mobile to download sites assuming that its from guest network. After three days when i got the bill i was surprised to see the bill amount of QR.3000 for 3 days,As directed by Q Tel customer care I went to Q Tel Al saad main branch for my complaint,They registered my complaint and told me that they will investigate,After some days they told me that as per their record i have used it through Q Tel network and i have to pay all that amount,I tried to explain them the story,But they are not interested and after a week they disconnected my account.
@ Shabuntu: there was a time when the roaming cost was 55 riyals per MB
@ Mandilulur: It must have been a pretty good movie...atleast 2.5 GB. it would have been cheaper for him to go to Hollywood and watch its Premiere
Lol Mandi ...

Yes, I'm afraid you do owe the charges. I hope others reading this will take note. A few years ago there was a story of the Qatar resident who went to the UAE and downloaded a movie. He owed over $35,000 dollars and had to pay it.
Mandi
If you read the contract carefully it clearly states that your credit limit is not applicable to roaming charges.
This is because when you are roaming, you are no longer connected on your home network but on the visited network. (for that matter, even your poor GPRS connectivity was through the visited network for which Qtel is not legally responsible). These charges are passed onto Qtel and Qtel puts a mark-up value on the usage and bills you.
Having said that, as a data-usage customer you should be aware that roaming data charges are very high across the world regardless of whichever operator. Actually most operators take a substantially large deposit from customers applying for roaming.
Infact if you use an I-phone it also gives you a warning at the time of activation of roaming data "Turn data roaming off when abroad to avoid substantial roaming charges"
You can choose any of the below Qtel Policy
Pay the Bill or goto the jail
Which you choose?. No Other Options.
Good Luck.
