QAWS :: Unwanted Items/Books

Chelsea
By Chelsea

QAWS is having a Fun Day & Table Top Sale at Garvey's on Saturday 22nd May to raise money for the shelter. There will be the scavenger hunt at 11am, the table top sale from 1pm-5pm, live music, BBQ, kid's games and playground, raffle and more.

QAWS would like to have a book stall, a bake sale and a white elephant table at the event. Does anyone have any unwanted books, household items, kid's toys, clothes etc that could be donated to QAWS for the event?

Would anyone be willing to make a cake/muffins/cookies/fudge etc for the bake sale? Our lovely Alumnar has kindly offered to organise the bake sale so please PM her if you are able to contribute cake-wise.

Anyone with items to donate, please email me at [email protected] with a rough idea of what you are donating (so I know how much space in the car I need!) and a location map. If anyone is able to drop things down to the shelter that would be fantastic!

If anyone would like to reserve a table at the event please call 5396074.

Thank you and hope to see you all there!

Thank you to everyone who has donated items so far! Anyone else wanting to drop off unwanted books, clothes, toys or household items can do so at the shelter up to Friday, or at Garvey's on Saturday morning from 10am.

There'll be beautiful jewelry, mozaic mirrors, hand-made cards, silk scarves, cakes, cookies, face-painting, kid's competitions and so much more! And it's indoors so no need to worry about the heat!

Hope to see you all there!!

A scavenger hunt is a competition where teams all meet up at one place, and everyone gets given the same list of 20 items to collect and 10 photos to take (for example, you could be asked to collect a cardboard box and take a photo of a pink car).

All the teams start together, and go off around Doha to collect their items and photos. The winning team will be the ones who collect the most things off of their list in 2 hours.

All the teams will be timed in case 2 teams get the same number of items, with the fastest team to return winning.

All teams must be a mximum of one car each and need to bring a car and a digital camera or camera phone. There are lots of things to find so it's a great day out for all ages.

... I pm'd you my mobile number. I have spread the word about the event with my daughters' schoolcolleagues and also on Facebook - the response is pretty positive already!

I can help setting up the stalls with you and pricing items from morning onwards, just say what time.

Hope to see many more people supporting this wonderful cause!!! :)))

Please don't forget it's the scavenger hunt in the morning starting at 11am so please all grab you team (one car per team) and meet us there to register at 10.30 for a great laugh!!

We are accepting any donations for the sale - books, cakes, cookies, clothes, dvds/cds, household items, toys etc.

Everyone is invited and there will be things for all ages!!!

Rosie - anything would be greatly appreciated!! The table top sale is between 1pm and 5pm and you can either drop it down to the shelter before the day, bring it to Garvey's before 1pm or bring it with you when you come. If we could have it beforehand that would be great so we can sort things out on the table.

How it's worked in the past is that we don't generally price things, we just ask for a donation which we've found works really well :D The books & cakes will have prices though.

Alumnar - Sorry, we were at another table top sale yesterday and things were hectic!!! I'm moving house today so it might be best if I give you a call tomorrow. Can you PM me your number?

We have quite a few volunteers to man stalls but we could always do with an extra pair of hands. Or you could get a team together and join in with the scavenger hunt in the morning. It'll be a great laugh and we've already got quite a few teams together :D

I tried to call the number you put on the other topic today but no answer. Can I call you tomorrow on that same number? Want to discuss with you what needs to be done and start to send baking requests out :)

Rosie, maybe you could help us by minding a stall with second hand clothing? Just a suggestion :)

I will be moving into my villa next week and should be happy to donate lots of unwanted, really good clothes. Too much coming over from Australia. I have been watching this wonderful organisation from afar. I cannot help with cakes etc yet. Do I just bring down on the day?
